ACOUSTIBOOTH

ACOUSTICALLY RESPONSIVE INSTALLATION + FURNITURE SPRING 2012 | EUGENE, OREGON, USA

In an effort to solve a never-ending issue of not having a private place to take a phone call, the Digital Media Collaborative worked towards creating a space to solve that problem. We call it the parametrically-designed, acoustically responsive phone booth. The ribbed structure was formed with the contours of the human form to create the most comfortable seating possible. The external paneled skin performs to respond to the interior ribs, shield external sounds, and to perform as a surface for the embedded LED lights to bounce on. The lights are responsive to the human voice as to show those passing that a phone call is in session.
