COLLEGE FELLOWS

Transitioning to high school can be a difficult and intimidating time for many young people. Whether it's adjusting to new levels of academic rigor, balancing social life, or managing a busy schedule, 9th grade is a pivotal time in a student's development. To assist in these areas, CYC launched its first 9th-grade cohort with thirty Fellows during the 2021-2022 school year!

On why 9th-grade participation is critical for Fellows, Mr. Tim, also a first-generation college graduate, says "As a 9th-grade Fellow you learn what opportunities are available to you, you're given a network of support that you can leverage, to gain access to exclusive experiential learning opportunities, resources you can use academically, and so much more. All to the benefit of your college journey and high school experience. Not to mention, like every Fellow, you join the CYC community -- which becomes another family. Such a village can be instrumental in one's growth and trajectory. " We can't wait to see '25 thrive in the coming years!

Being in CYC in 9th grade helped me learn more about the college process as well as make new friends - Andrew, Harding University High School '25

"Having Mr. Tim as a program director was great, he always motivates me to do better, is always very uplifting, always has a smile on his face, just a great person with positive energy. - Johana - West Charlotte High School '25
