CARLSBAD SCULPTURE GARDEN CELEBRATES 25 YEARS
It’s hard to believe that the city’s Sculpture Garden has been open for the past 25 years! When I started as a part-time arts instructor with the City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office 21 years ago, I was impressed with the vast amount of arts programs offered to the community. Now, I manage the city’s public art collection with new projects and maintain our permanent works. Additionally, I coordinate new temporary public art experiences, like this exhibit . . . and I’m thrilled.
I’m drawn to clean architectural lines with a minimalistic approach, but I can also appreciate the beauty in organically inspired lines and shapes. Another Glance: Celebrating 25 Years in the Garden showcases artwork with both aesthetic sensibilities. Over 25 years, the city’s Sculpture Garden has exhibited works by 50 different artists. This exhibit showcases nine sculptures by artists (mostly) based in San Diego County, and each with an abundance of talent to highlight so close to home.
FEATURED ARTISTS:
David Beck-Brown (La Mesa) Neal Bociek (Spring Valley) John Dupree (Vista) Elon Ebanks (Vista) Jeffery Laudenslager (Encinitas) Christopher Lee (La Mesa) Diana Markessinis (Oakland) Deanne Sabeck (Encinitas) Leslie Wilton (Escondido) Paul Wilton (Escondido)
The city is proud to highlight such an array of impressive artwork by local, regional and national artists over the past 25 years. The space has been refreshed and is a place to be contemplative and inspired. Every time I visit, I experience something new.
Our gates are open for all to enjoy!
