Hi! I'm Carlotta, a young architect from the warm south of Italy. From the very beginning of my academic career I always worked at the boundary between architecture, interior and product design. Handcrafting, spacemaking and creative thinking are the keywords in all my projects, whether it is a small cabin, a cake stand or an exposition module. Here is a selection of my works starting from the first academic years, through the degree thesis, up to the most recent personal projects.

Carlotta Canino, Flavio FameliThis work, born in the university Spin-off M.A.D.E. Concept and developed in collaboration with it, is currently under construction and is a research about temporary exhibition spaces, their benefits and their limits. The aim of the degree thesis was to propose a new marketing experience and overcome the classic concept of Temporary Shop.
M.A.D.E. is a modular, flexible, customizable and interactive temporary space, able to offer the consumer an engaging sensory experience. Assembled in a few minutes and reusable in every component, our temporary is perfect for promoting brands in every market: fashion, gastronomy, information and culture.

Assembly phases
M.A.D.E. was created to promote brands in different contexts and can therefore be installed in closed spaces such as shopping centers and airports or open spaces such as seafronts or squares. In the example below we simulated a C configuration to promote a brand in the gastronomy market and to also show how the space outside can become part of the installation. It consists of 9 modules and two ends for access that can be assembled in few hours and that are connected by a wooden platform with a shading system.
In our intentions M.A.D.E. is a flexible and easy to use module ready for the most different uses. The easy transport, its configuration flexibility and the integrated projection system make it deal not only for resale, but also for temporary cultural expositions, public activities and pop-up events.
The emerging Italian brand "Marturano - made in Italy" offered us the possibility to simulate a customization operation of our temporary spaces, so as to perfectly fit the style and image of the brand.

With a simple and elegant design, Altea is a cake stand consisting of a wooden plate and a pleated foot of PLA, a material made from potato peels and used for 3D printing. The natural color of the wooden plate contrasts with the brighter color of the foot, angular but folded like a soft fabric. Altea is also made in different sizes and colors, perfect to decorate a corner of the house or enhancing any type of dish.
Altea's idea was born from a personal need during the pandemic lockdown. The firm points from which to start were the desire to design an object with modern lines and which could be made with the means available: a wooden plate and a 3D printer.
The first step was to simplify the foot of a classically styled cake stand into a truncated cone. Subsequently this was "folded" in plisset. Made the 3D model, with the preparation of the holes for fixing the foot to the wooden plate, it was printed in PLA and spray painted.
The three different sizes adapt to every need and also allow compositions of several cake stand in different colours.
The processing of the 3D printing of Altea's PLA foot. It takes about 6, 10 and 13 hours for the three different sizes.

Ellipse is born from the meeting of iron and solid wood, a sculptural design furniture that goes beyond the concept of a conventional dining table. Customers wanted a large table for large family dinners that with its design could give character to their open space. The extendable ash top, from 190 to 290 cm long, follows the soft and sinuous shapes of the two elliptical iron feet. The result is not just a central element in the space, but a real meeting point.
Once the solid wood boards have been selected and glued, the top has been made by hand and shaped with the aid of a milling machine.
The choice of ash wood guarantees the durability and resistance of the product, as well as an enveloping beauty thanks to the grain and the warm color of its essence. The curved shape, which wants to match that of the monolithic feet, enhances its beauty and seems to envelop the diners in a warm embrace.
The two sculptural iron feet were modeled by a local craftsman and subsequently treated and painted. They are two identical pieces, but their different inclination offers a perspective of the ellipses that is always different from every point of view, giving the table great dynamism. Functionally it gives stability to the wooden top, which floats as if suspended above. The color chosen, however particular, is a very neutral tint that goes perfectly with the space which Ellipse was designed for.

Jungle is a collection of furniture for beauty salons designed on commission by the Beauty in Progress s.r.l. group, a company in the beauty sector in northern Italy. The tropical theme, which is the leitmotif of the entire line of furnishings, aims to recreate an environment of relaxation and well-being. The fresh and refined design combines with the practicality and functionality of the furnishings which, like installations, complete and decorate the beauty salons by bringing greenery into their spaces.
To satisfy the different spatial and stylistic needs of beauty salons, the Jungle Luxury collection was born, where the material quality of solid wood becomes the protagonist and combines with the clean geometries of the furnishings, and the Jungle Beauty collection, where the versatility and durability of high-end melamine allows you to create a line characterized by the same geometries but with a leaner and more linear appearance.
Therefore, the materials and colors used to make the various accessories reflect the theme of Nature: wood, with its veined surface and warm tones, and green, used for painting the sheet metal.
The sheet metal is perforated with motifs of abstract leaves and the artificial tropical leaves, through the opaque glass combined with a play of diffused light, form the background for some accessories, thus bringing green inside the beauty centres.

Located in the south of Italy, Casa V is an independent property, with convenient access and a large garden, in which to enjoy the mild Calabrian climate and the warmth of sunlight in the golden hour. The modern entrance, still under construction, with suspended steps in lava stone and a large canopy in chestnut wood, herald the style of the interior spaces, which are characterized by the quality and beauty of the materials chosen. The theme of green is recurrent, from that of open spaces, clearly visible from the inside thanks to large glass surfaces, and that used in the furnishings, such as the lichen panels of the entrance furniture, designed and made to measure, and the tiles in the tropical style of the minor bathroom.
