O Projecto da Unidade de Radioterapia do Funchal foi desenvolvido no âmbito de um concurso de concepção, construção e exploração. Um dos requisitos do concurso incluia a prospecção e aquisição do terreno, facto que marcou, decisivamente, a evolução do projecto. A indefinição do sítio, durante a fase de concurso, conduziu à realização de um projecto de “dentro para fora”, que começou por resolver, um programa funcional complexo, liberto das imposições ou suposições geográficas.
The project for the Radiotherapy Unit in Funchal was developed as part of a design, construction and operation tender. One of the requirements of the contest involved the surveying and acquisition of the land, which had a decisive impact on the evolution of the project. The fact that no specific site was defined at the tendering stage led to the development of a project from the “inside out” which began with the resolution of a complex functional program, free from geographic constraints or assumptions. Le projet de la clinique de Radiothérapie de Funchal a été développé dans le contexte d’un appel d’offres de conception, construction et exploitation. L’une des conditions de l’appel d’offres comprenait la prospection et l’acquisition du terrain. Ce fait a marqué de façon décisive l’évolution du projet. L’indéfinition du lieu, pendant la phase de l’appel d’offres a mené à la réalisation d’un projet de “l’intérieur vers l’extérieur” qui a commencé par résoudre un programme complexe fonctionnel, libre des impositions ou des suppositions géographiques.
