Director’s Message Welcome to another Ravens hockey season. We are extremely excited about this year’s edition of the women’s ice hockey team as they vie for a spot at the CIS National Championship. Head coach Shelley Coolidge has recruited some exceptional talent to add depth to our team. They have worked hard over the summer and fall months in preparation to compete in one of the toughest leagues in the CIS. Please join us in supporting these extraordinary student-athletes as they pursue their very best in academics and athletics. Good luck Ravens! Jennifer Brenning Director of Recreation & Athletics

CARLETON

RAVENS

With some new faces on its roster, the Carleton University Ravens women’s hockey team is looking to improve on last year’s record of 8-12-0 that saw them ďŹ nish in fourth place in the RSEQ. Carleton’s season ended after the No. 1 ranked McGill University Martlets swept the best-of-three semi-ďŹ nal series with a 3-0 victory. This year’s recruiting class features a strong Western Canadian presence with defenceman Jasmine LĂŠvesque of the Balmoral Hall Blazers, goalie Tamber Tisdale of the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Hounds, forward Alex Yallouz of the Vancouver Fusion and forward Olivia Sutter of the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs. Also joining the Ravens this season are forwards Veronic Auger, Sadie Wegner and Kate Allan. Goalie Victoria Powers and defenceman Sarah MacLean will also be suiting up for Carleton along with international goaltender Eri Kiribuchi, who has played for the Japanese national team. With the loss of netminders Valerie Charbonneau and Amanda Muhlig, Kiribuchi, Tisadle and Powers will have big shoes to ďŹ ll. But each goalie is highly skilled and capable of rising to the challenge. The team will also be without the presence of forwards Jennifer Slewidge, Jacqueline Everson and captain Tara O’Reilly, all graduating last season. Despite these loses, the Ravens hope the new recruits will provide character and highpowered offence to the line-up. Veterans like fourth-year forwards Sara Seiler, and last year’s team scoring leader, Claudia Bergeron, will be looked to for leadership as this new recruiting class comes in. Going into her second season as head coach, Shelley Coolidge is conďŹ dent the team will have continued success this year. “After losing such a strong leadership core, we’re looking forward to players currently in the program stepping up to lead,â€? says Coolidge. “This recruiting class will allow us to continue to push the competitive level at Carleton to an even higher place.â€? 2010 – 2011 Carleton University Ravens
