WELCOME FROM THE WELCOME FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM LEADERSHIP TEAM

Welcome to the 2023 Annual Latina THRIVE Summit, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE Partnership grant. The summit will focus on supporting and empowering Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) department chairs and their change teams with the goal of creating a psychologically healthy workplace where STEM Latina (and other URM) faculty can thrive. At this year's Summit, we are excited to bring together approximately 60 department chairs and their change teams, STEM Latina faculty and leaders, representatives of HSI and STEM organizations, as well as organizational change experts. We look forward to sharing resources, collaborating, and establishing lasting networks that extend beyond the summit. Our keynote speakers and panelists will be sharing evidence-based practices and effective strategies to promote a healthy and inclusive department climate and culture, with a particular emphasis on supporting Latina/x faculty in STEM. Creating a psychologically healthy workplace is key to increasing the representation of Latinas/xs and fostering innovation and success at the faculty, department, and institutional levels. The impact of such efforts will extend beyond the participants and their institutions to the national level as equity in STEM is essential to strengthening the U.S. STEM workforce and global competitiveness.

We cannot wait to get started and are so grateful to have you as part of this important transformational effort and partnership. Thank you for joining us on beautiful South Padre Island for what promises to be a productive and impactful event.
