Four people have thrown their hats in the rings to contest the two seats up for grabs in Ryley’s Aug. by-election. When nominations for the by-election closed on July 17, Stephanie Dennis, Cynthia Heslin, Matthew Kowalski and Kimberly Murphy had put their names forward to contest the election.
While currently unofficial, the four had until July 19 at noon to withdraw if they so choose.
The by-election is to replace the seats previously held by disgraced Mayor Nik Lee and former Deputy Mayor Nola Wood Herrick.
Lee was removed from council by public peti- tion, while Wood Herrick submitted her resignation earlier this year.

The by-election will be held Aug. 14.
Of the four Heslin has posted information about herself on the politics of Ryley Facebook page.
She served two terms as mayor or deputy mayor of the Village from 2010 to 2013 and 2017 to
2021.
She is currently employed at the Holden Rural Academy as the school secretary as well as the assistant to the principal and superintendent.
“I have watched, like most of you, the destructive way our village has been treated in the last 21 months,” she posted.
