Kurek spoke briefly about a new bill that would deal with Canadian’s right to online privacy, with their rights online, especially with respect to information vs. misinformation, and artificial intelligence (AI). “We are just starting this process, and there is a delicate balance between your right to have an opinion and the protection of freedom, along with checks and balances of the State.”

Kurek said he finds the Liberal government one that wants to label the opposition. He says he was given the label of “climate denier” because he is an oil and gas supporter. “It’s an attempt to divide us. When I talk about my work in Oil and Gas Conservation and Environmental controls, or as a fifth generation farmer who cares about the land, they don’t want to talk to me. It’s a political technique to label an opponent so they don’t have credibility to speak.”

Kurek talked about how in his point of view the Liberal government does taxpayers a disservice by sowing division to their own gain, pointing to PM Justin Trudeau’s broken promise of not calling an election unless he lost a non-confidence vote. “He lied. He chose personal, narrow political gain over his own country.”

Kurek talked about a number of concerns the Conservatives have about some important bills, while also talking up Conservative leader Poilievre, calling him “One of the best communicators I’ve ever seen.”

He says that Poilievre’s plan is to address the key concerns in a manner that allows Canadians to understand complex issues. “He’s done a lot of attacks, I won’t deny that,” Kurek says, “but he’s also spoken a lot about a government where Canadians can prosper; that allow the common person to be successful.

“He’s against an ‘Ottawa-knowsbest’ philosophy.

“There is a real need for honest conversations with Canadians. I generally don’t have to convince people out here, but we have to get the message to folks who haven’t voted Conservative.”

Kurek added, “Whether you agree with everything Conservatives stand for or not, and all of us disagree on something - that’s what makes democracies great.

“It’s not just a cookie cutter ‘this is what we are’ attitude. It’s about saying, ‘Look, we are diverse peoples with different ideals and we can coexist and figure out a path forward.

“That’s where we are seeing so much optimism.”

Kurek talked about a Windsor rally, in a ‘not Conservative’ constituency, where 1,500 people came out to see Poilievre. “The reason why I think we are seeing that is that many individuals who may not think of themselves as Conservative; they look at what the Liberals are doing. They are telling me how to live, how to raise my family, what my environmental footprint should be, or that my job doesn’t matter.”

He used electric vehicles as an example.

“Conservatives are saying we need to empower Canadians. So if electric vehicles are as good as they say, the free marketplace will determine that answer.”

Kurek says that Canadians are seeing the devastating consequences of the failure of the legal system. He notes that while debating the C-21 firearms bill, Liberals also introduced a bill that reduced sentencing on crimes where a legal or illegal firearm is used.

He spoke briefly on his intention to sponsor a bill for Mchale and Noah, a mother and child slain by a known sex offender. “to try to take a step to ensure it doesn’t happen again. This was a known sex offender who fell through the cracks.”

In summation, Kurek called for Canadians to support Conservatives. He says his party wants to empower Canadians, and listen to them.

“You may not agree with everything about the Conservatives, but you can trust us to be the only party who respects Canadians.”
