.S. News & World Report has named SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital as one of the best neonatology programs in the country, and we are proud to bear the designation of the top Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the City of St. Louis and the State of Missouri! In Missouri, 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely every year, with about 1 in 5 of those babies being so sick or so small that they require a stay in a NICU. At SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, our staff of neonatologists and other caregivers care for our tiniest patients in The Dana Brown NICU, a Level IV unit, the highest standard of care for newborns. “It means that families can trust us to do the best for their babies,” says Amit Mathur, MD, SLUCare neonatologist at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. “Every one of us is working hard to get their babies well and home.” In our all-private unit, families experience comfort, privacy and

the most personalized care possible from a staff of dedicated physicians, nurses and other caregivers who are committed to giving these tiny patients the best chance at a healthy future.

As a result, our NICU consistently is recognized by U.S. News & World Report and other organizations for excellence in quality of care, education and research.

Family-Centered Care At SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, we employ an approach called Family Centered Care, which recognizes the unique role parents and other family members play as decision makers and advocates for their child. It encourages open dialogue between families and health care providers, and respects different cultures, traditions and coping styles. Simply the Best The infants who receive care in The Dana Brown NICU are living proof of the consistently exceptional care our team delivers. Thanks to ever-improving diagnostic techniques and the latest technology, babies born as early as 23 weeks have excellent odds of surviving and living healthy lives.
