Nos Waith Dda / Good Evening and welcome to Cardiff Met University, Cyncoed Campus for our thirteenth game of the first phase of the JD Cymru Premier League 2020-21 clash with Newtown AFC. On behalf of everyone connected with Cardiff Metropolitan University Football Club, we would like to welcome the directors, management and players who have made the journey from Latham Park, we hope you enjoy your visit to Cardiff. This evening’s game was originally scheduled during the traditional home and away games played over the Christmas period, however the change has been made in anticipation of further stringent Post-Christmas Welsh Assembly Government regulations. The new schedule of games represents further challenges for club as players and staff face a hectic period of back to back games. It is hoped that the FAW’s anticipation of future lockdown regulations ensures the Cymru Premier League achieve a viable season. It is also hoped that the cost of this tough playing schedule does not result in an overburden on players’ fitness and physical well-being. As always our players and staff will rise to the challenge and ensure Cardiff Met FC are fully prepared for each game. What is required to become a Cymru Premier League team? As well as finishing first in the respective Cymru Leagues South and North leagues. All clubs have to annually apply for and be awarded a Tier 1 domestic licence to compete in the league and a UEFA licence to allow them to play in European competitions. The application process is justifiably stringent and requires each club to provide evidence of compliance with FAW and UEFA regulations. The licence application is set out and covers a number of different categories intended to allow clubs to demonstrate professional competence to host fixtures. The license criteria and category headings are Infrastructure, Sporting (Youth and Coaching), Legal, Personnel and Administration, and Financial. The process begins at the start of each season and until the final application submission deadline at the end of February. Grounds are inspected and all submitted documents are scrutinised against the licensing criteria before the FAW grants Domestic and UEFA licenses for the following season. All Cymru Premier League clubs have undergone this licensing process since 2004 and although it presents an onerous task to comply with the criteria set out in the 150-page document, the benefits gained for all concerned certainly warrants the commitment and dedication required. Additionally each club undergoes a stringent audit of their academy structure, which since 2019 has required the appointment of a Head of Coaching and Head of Community as officers of the club. The expansion of the academy structure can only be positive for the National development of the game. More “home grown” players representing Premier League teams in the future and the improvement of grass-root pathways into clubs is now becoming a realistic aim. The sustainability of these developments however, requires considerable financial support and is dependent on the grants provided by UEFA to the FAW, which in turn is dependent on the progress of the National Team in European and World rankings. Nations League promotion secured let us all hope for further success from the National side in the future, their progress will have a significant influence and impact on the domestic game. Finally, as we look forward to an exciting game against our visitors, we should always remember never to take for granted those who are always there for us; our families, friends, and our loyal supporters who unfortunately can only support us from a distance. The journey continues... Cardiff Met FC wish to thank all NHS staff and key workers for their unselfish professionalism and dedication

Way back in 1877, Newtown took part in the first ever Welsh Cup tie on Saturday 13 October against Druids of Ruabon. Cefn Druids now former members of the Welsh Premier are derived from this club. Wrexham went on to win the competition but in the following season, Newtown Whitestars beat the favourites Wrexham 2–1 in Oswestry and became the first club to receive the famous trophy, which had only been purchased a few months earlier. In December 1895 Newtown travelled to play Manchester City at Maine Road and shocked the City team by winning 3–2. Newtown’s W. Parry scored all three goals for the Robins. Newtown White Stars won the Welsh Cup in 1879 and were losing finalists in 1881. Newtown AFC won the cup again in 1895, but this was the last national trophy won for sixty years, until the Welsh Amateur Cup was won in 1955. The first match was played at what is now Latham Park in 1951, and the ground has since been brought up to a standard which makes it fully eligible to stage big games such as cup semi-finals, Welsh Cup finals, UEFA Youth Internationals, Women's International matches and UEFA Cup matches. For most of the years since the 1920s the club operated in the Mid-Wales League, or the Central Wales League as it was sometimes known, winning the championship in 1975–76, 1978–79, 1981–82, 1986– 87 & 1987–88 and on the strength of this record, the club gained entry to the English league system in the Northern Premier League. The club has a long and proud tradition with the move in the late 1980s into the Northern Premier League being part of the progressive nature of the club. In 1992 the club became rather reluctant founder members of the Konica League of Wales. Since then it has finished runners-up in the league in both 1995–96 & 1997–98, and subsequently played UEFA cup ties against Skonto Riga of Latvia and Wisła Kraków of Poland. Newtown Association Football Club are one of the oldest clubs in Wales, being formed in 1875 and are one of the founder members of the FAW. In addition, the club was also one of the founder members of the League of Wales, now known as the Cymru Premier. In 2014 Newtown became the 2nd Cymru Premier club, after The New Saints, to change their grass turf for a 3G pitch. During the 2014/15 season Newtown finished in the top 6 for the second consecutive season. They also took part in their first Welsh Cup Final in 118 Years after memorable wins against Caersws, Bangor and Rhyl. However they lost the match 2–0 to The New Saints, despite it being played at Latham Park in front of a capacity crowd. After the cup final defeat, Newtown entered the European play-offs. During the play-offs, they won away at Port Talbot Town and won away at Aberystwyth Town to take a spot in the 2015–16 Europa League qualifiers. In July 2015 Newtown faced Maltese opponents Valletta in the first round of qualifying for the 2015/16 Europa League. A last minute winner in the 1st leg at Latham Park gave the club their first European win and was followed with an away victory giving Newtown their first Europa League Win over two legs. Newtown faced Danish giants Copenhagen in the second round and were defeated over both legs losing 5–1 on aggregate. Newtown finished in the top 6 again during the following 2015/16 Welsh Premier League season and were also the only team to beat The New Saints at Park Hall, but eventually lost at home to Airbus UK Broughton in the play-off semi final. Newtown again reached the playoffs after finishing 7th in the 2016/17 season, but were beaten 3–2 away to Bangor City. The 2017/18 campaign was a difficult one for the Robins as they dropped in to the bottom six, eventually finishing 8th however the 2018/19 season brought renewed hope and they finished in 5th place only to suffer more play-off heartbreak, losing to Bala in the semi-finals. After a bottom six finish last term, Newtown were tipped by many to be one of the surprise packages for the 2020/21 season, however the Robins have endured a difficult start to the campaign but will be looking to climb into the congested mid-table area and give themselves a chance of making a top six berth their own.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is pleased to announce that all 44 Cymru Leagues clubs are set to receive financial support as part of a unique partnership with The National Lottery. The financial package – established by the FAW and The National Lottery and facilitated by the UK Government – will see clubs in the JD Cymru Premier, JD Cymru North and the JD Cymru South receive funding while matches continue to be played behind closed doors, owing to the current COVID-19 restrictions. Football clubs and training facilities across the Cymru Leagues are often at the heart of their communities. They act as central hubs that give further opportunities for children and adults to be active, while bringing a source of pride to their towns. This funding stream recognises the essential role that Cymru Leagues clubs play beyond matchday. National Lottery players, who make a difference every time they buy a lottery ticket, will also get a range of benefits as a thank you for their support – including free tickets to football matches, once stadia are safe to reopen, and VIP experiences with the Cymru National Team. The funds, which will be distributed via the FAW, will play a key role in ensuring that the clubs can continue to exist, and, where possible, operate during these difficult times. Jonathan Ford, CEO of bly grateful for our stream which has been continue to be played

the Football Association of Wales, “At the FAW, we are incrediunique partnership with The National Lottery and the funding provided for our clubs across the Cymru Leagues, while matches behind closed doors.”

Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart said: “Clubs in the Cymru Leagues play a huge role in their local communities and, like many others, they have been struggling in the current climate. I’m delighted that the UK Government could help bring The National Lottery and the football authorities together to deliver for these clubs and for grassroots football in Wales. From Prestatyn to Taffs Well, this funding package will help enable clubs to keep going until fans can safely return.” Chief Executive of National Lottery operator Camelot, said, “The National Lottery and its players have been making a massive difference to communities across the UK for the past 26 years, so we’re thrilled to be able to partner with the Football Association of Wales to provide vital funding for these incredibly important clubs in the Cymru Leagues. As a huge football fan myself, I know what this will mean to fans of these community clubs, and I’m sure they’ll be pleased to hear that their clubs are getting the support they need.” The partnership follows a similar National Lottery initiative between the FA and National League in England, which was facilitated by the UK government. Work continues on partnerships with the Scottish and Northern Ireland FAs.

TNS were the visitors to the most recent match at Cyncoed Campus, with the hosts Cardiff Met hoping to build on their last two matches (1-1 v Aberystwyth, 2-1 v Flint Town United). The sternest test so far this season stood in the way of the Archers, with formidable league leaders The New Saints the visitors. The Saints came into the match unbeaten in their opening 11 matches this season (9 wins, 2 draws). Cardiff Met came into the match in 10th, three points ahead of Flint Town United, knowing a win for them will move them a number of positions in the table, if results went their way. Just two points separate Caernarfon in 6th and Cardiff Met in 10th. The students started magnificently, with midfielder Eliot Evans gathering scruffy passage of play in the midfield. Evans had enough time to set the self just outside the penalty area and curl a delicious effort towards the tunately for Met, the ball came back off the upright and was eventually Harrison, in the TNS goal.

the ball after a ball up for himfar post. Unforgathered by Paul

TNS had the better of the possession but a well-disciplined defensive display from the Archers kept them safely at bay. A number of half chances for both sides followed without either ever really threatening to break the deadlock. Luis Robles came closest for the visitors in the first half, after being played through magnificently by Adrian Cieslewicz. The joint-second top scorer in the division opted to strike with his favoured left from a tight angle when the right foot may have been the better option and the shot was saved by Alex Lang at his near post. The second half started much as the first had ended, with few chances for either side. However, it was the league leaders that broke the deadlock. Leo Smith’s beautiful in-swinging corner caused havoc in the Met penalty area, and Liam Black’s attempted clearance only found the top corner of Lang’s net. Black’s instinctive error turned out to be decisive, with the centre-back’s unfortunate own goal proving to be the only goal in the game. The New Saints took control of the match thereafter and were able to create a number of chances. Leo Smith, provider for the first goal, came close to scoring himself shortly after. His free kick was expertly saved by Alex Lang as it looked destined to nestle in the top corner. Cieslewicz also came close for The Saints with an outside-of-the-foot effort from the edge of the area, tipped around the post by Lang. Club record goalscorer, Greg Draper, also came close with an effort but Cardiff Met’s defence stayed strong and were denied what appeared to be a clear penalty with just five minutes remaining. Ollie Hulbert’s acrobatic volley struck the hand of a TNS defender but the referee deemed the first offence to be dangerous play from the Met striker and awarded a free-kick to TNS much to the disbelief of the home players and management. While the home side lacked attacking flair – scoring just 8 goals in 11 games this season – Christian Edwards will be happy with the grit and rugged defensive display his men put out. Up next for Met is a bottom of the table clash with Flint Town United, in Flintshire, while league leaders TNS continue in their pursuit of the title by hosting Aberystwyth Town.

Saints March On Flint Win on the Road Aberystwyth Town P-P Bala Town Friday nights match between Aberystwyth Town and Bala Town was postponed. The fixture, due to be played under the lights was called off after three members of the Penybont squad – Bala Town’s most recent opponents – tested positive with Covid-19. As a result, the Lakesiders – who, incidentally, were one of the four sides allowed to play during the recent Firebreak Lockdown – will not play again for at least 14 days. The postponement leaves Aberystwyth Town in 7th, while Bala Town drop to third. Connah’s Quay Nomads 2-1 Cefn Druids AFC The Nomads, curtesy of Bala Town’s postponement, moved up to second in the table with a tight fought victory over bottom-of-the-table Cefn Druids. The Druids, who have now lost 7 out of 9 matches this season, will take many positives away from the defeat and will find themselves unfortunate not to have gotten something out of the match. Michael Wilde put the home side ahead quarter of an hour into the match, with an own goal by Druids’ Jacob Wise doubled the advantage just before half time. A much-improved performance from the visitors in the second half was rewarded with a goal by Joe Faux, setting up a tight final 25 minutes where both sides had chances to score again. Barry Town United 0-0 Newtown Jenner Park was the venue for a highly entertaining goalless draw between Barry Town and Newtown. Both sides will feel they had chances to win the match, without managing that final pass or clinical finishing required to get the ball in the net. After a brilliant start to the season, the draw now leaves Barry Town United without a win in five matches, as Newtown climb to 8th in the table, building upon their win over Flint Town United in their last outing. Goalkeepers Mike Lewis and Dave Jones were the star men as both teams will feel this one got away from them. Cardiff Met FC 0-1 The New Saints A much-improved Cardiff Met FC performance at Cyncoed Campus was not enough to end The New Saints unbeaten run to the campaign. Instead, The Saints extended that run to 12 matches without defeat this season. The only goal of the match came via a Liam Black own goal, but Christian Edwards’ men will take a great deal of confidence from giving the runaway leagueleaders such a competitive game. The Archer’s games this season have yielded the fewest amount of goals than any other team this campaign so it was no surprise this was not a goal -fest. Met continued their defensive assurances, but were again unable to create enough going forward, and when they did, the finishing was not clinical enough to make them count. Haverfordwest County 0-3 Flint Town United Flint Town United ended their wretched run of seven successive defeats with a clinical and comfortable demolition of Haverfordwest County, in a match that saw three red cards. Alex Jones scored the first half’s only goal, in what will be one of the easier of his career, capitalizing on poor goalkeeping from Matt Turner who failed to secure a cross on the wet surface. It was 0-2 shortly after the restart through Connor Harwood, clinically finishing the ball past the on-rushing Turner. With the game slipping away from the Bluebirds, their ill-discipline began to show. Alaric Jones was the first to be sent off for the home side, soon joined by Kieren Lewis. Wes Baynes was sent off for Flint with 15 minutes to play, but they were able to negotiate the remainder of the match. Ben Steer turned the ball home to make it a comfortable victory for the Flintshire side, who stretch the gap from the foot of the table.

Saints March On Late Chaos at Caernarfon Bala Town 3-1 Newtown Third placed Bala Town extended the gap to fourth placed Barry Town United with a convincing win over Newtown who drop to 10th. A brace from former-Archer Will Evans in the first half put the Lakesiders in control at the break, and despite a number of chances that’s how it stayed until a couple of very late goals. An 88th minute Matthew Williams strike gave struggling Newtown hope, but the three points were settled in added time with Steven Leslie confirming the win. Connah’s Quay Nomads 3-1 Barry Town United Connah’s Quay Nomads kept themselves within touching distance of the top of the table with their third successive victory at the Deesside Stadium. It was the visitors who took the lead in an entertaining match as Jordan Cotterill struck home. However, the defending champions were on level terms moments later through Michael Wilde. Declan Poole drove home from inside the area to give the Nomads the lead at half time. Aeron Edwards’ header, which bounced in off the bar, was enough to heap further misery on Barry Town United, who have now failed to win in six matches. Caernarfon Town 1-4 Haverfordwest County Haverfordwest County moved into the top six after a convincing win at Caernarfon Town. The hosts, who were leapfrogged by the visitors, played most of the match with ten men after Josh Tibbets was sent off after just 7 minutes. The home goalkeeper got his marching orders after taking down Jack Wilson outside the area and was the last man. Despite this, it was the Cofi’s that took the lead through Gareth Edwards, but goals from Jack Wilson and Ben Fawcett was enough to give the Bluebirds the lead at half time. Wilson bagged his second of the match shortly after the restart and a fourth came through Marcus Griffiths with two minutes left to play. Flint Town United 0-1 Cardiff Met FC Cardiff Met FC moved up to 7th in the table with their third win of the season as the students did the double over their hosts. The North Walians had a man sent off midway through the first half as Alex Jones was shown a straight red card for a challenge on the returning Emlyn Lewis. Despite being down to ten men, the Archer’s struggled to find a way through and onto the scoresheet. Thankfully for Christian Edwards’ side, Ollie Hulbert did manage to score the only goal of the match with quarter of an hour left to play as the battle for the top six intensifies. TNS 4-1 Aberystwyth Town Aberystwyth Town players scored three of the matches five goals at The New Saints, though Jonathan Foligno and Lee Jenkins did so in their own net either side of a Steven Hewitt equalizer to give TNS a 2-1 lead going into the last ten minutes of the match. Though the visitors put up a spirited display and often had chances to take something from the match, it was left to record goalscorer Greg Draper to seal yet another three points for the Saints. His 9th and 10th goals of the season take him closer to Bala Town’s Chris Venables (13 goals) in the race for the Golden Boot, as the New Saints extend their unbeaten run this season to 13 matches. Penybont 1-1 Cefn Druids AFC Penybont’s first match in two weeks ended in a draw, as both sides scored wonderful goals. The home side, back in action following an enforced hiatus due to Coronavirus regulations, looked as though they’d won it with 17 minutes left on the clock as Ben Ahmun lobbed the visiting goalkeeper, and comfortably saw out the rest of the match until the 88th minute when, from nowhere, Jacob Wise hit a sensational volley to equalize. The ball fell invitingly to the Druids center-back and his right footed volley flew into the Penybont goal to secure a share of the spoils.

It was wonderful to see Met win on Saturday at Flint. Well done boys! Let's hope now we can climb the table and move away from the bottom six as soon as possible. It was great to see Emlyn Lewis return to the team and he was clearly in the heart of the battle early on! It was a stormy game by all accounts, but thankfully we have taken six points off the team from North East Wales. A few weeks ago I thoroughly enjoyed the friendly match against Bristol Rovers Under 23s. It was a very competitive game with many of Met's young players taking the opportunity to showcase their talents. Met won the game 2-1 with Craig Davies netting twice. There were very promising performances from many youngsters playing high quality football as the ball spread quickly from one end of the field to the other. Emlyn Lewis returned to the team for his first appearance of the season and everyone was pleased to see him leading the defensive side of the team. Met's last home game against The New Saints proved extremely unfair and disappointing. Had Eliot Evans' excellent attempt at the start of the game not hit the bar we probably would have drawn, or even won the game. Although The New Saints dominat-

ed possession in the first half, they were unable to break us down and offer any real threat or opportunities on the home team's goal. The back four defended admirably. Although The New Saints increased their tempo after half time a moment of bad luck from a corner caused the ball to hit Liam Black and deflect into the net for a fortuitous own goal. Even now I still feel very aggrieved that we didn't receive a penalty late in the game, which would have given Met at least, a well-deserved point. Ollie Hulbert attempted an athletic overhead kick towards goal and the Saints defender Simon Spender handed the goal bound shot with both hands directly above his head. It was clearly an obvious penalty kick to everyone at Cyncoed who were waiting for the referee, John Jones to point to the penalty spot. However to the astonishment of everyone, he gave a free kick to the defending team. Quite Amazing. Below is my attempt at a translation of Sgorio's commentary in the match highlights, “That's a penalty. It has to be. What on earth has the referee done? The case rests.

Mi oedd yn wych i weld Met yn ennill wythnos dwetha lan yn y Fflint. Da iawn fechgyn! Gobeithiwn yn awr godi’r tabl a symud i ffwrdd o’r chwech isaf mor fuan â phosib. Braf oedd gweld Emlyn Lewis yn dychwelyd i’r tîm ac yn amlwg yr oedd yng nghanol storm y gêm yn gyflym. Gêm dymhestlog ydoedd yn ôl y sôn ond diolch i’r drefn ein bod wedi cymryd chwe phwynt oddi ar y tîm o Ogledd Ddwyrain Cymru.

Ychydig wythnosau yn ôl wnes i fwynhau yn fawr gêm gyfeillgar tîm ifanc Met yn erbyn tîm dan 23 Bristol Rovers. Gêm gystadleuol dros ben ydoedd gyda nifer o chwaraewyr ifanc Met yn bachu ar y cyfle i ddangos eu doniau. Enillodd Met y gêm o ddwy gôl i un gyda Craig Davies yn rhwydo ddwywaith. Gwelwyd perfformiadau addawol iawn gan nifer o’r to ifanc yn chwarae pêldroed o safon uchel wrth i’r bêl ledu’n gyflym o un pen y cae i’r llall. Dychwelodd Emlyn Lewis i’r tîm am ei ymddangosiad cyntaf o’r tymor ac yr oedd pawb yn falch i’w weld yn arwain ochr amddiffynnol y tîm. Siom ac annhegwch oedd fy nheimladau ar ddiwedd gêm gartref diwethaf Met yn erbyn y Seintiau Newydd. Petai ymgais gampus Eliot Evans ar gychwyn y gêm heb daro’r

bar mae’n siŵr y byddem wedi ennill y gêm. Er i’r Seintiau ddominyddu’r meddiant yn yr hanner cyntaf nid oeddent yn gallu torri trwyddo a chynnig unrhyw wir fygythiad neu gyfleoedd ar gôl y tîm gartref ac erbyn hanner amser yr oedd Met yn amddiffyn yn gyfforddus. Er i’r Seintiau gynyddu’r tempo ar gychwyn yr ail hanner moment o lwc llwyr achosodd gôl y gwrthwynebwyr, wrth i gornel daro Liam Black a gwyro i rwyd ei hun.

Erbyn hyn rwy dal yn teimlo’n grac iawn na chawsom gic o’r smotyn tua diwedd y gêm fyddai wedi sicrhau pwynt haeddiannol i Met. Ceisiodd Ollie Hulbert ergyd athletaidd yn yr awyr tua’r gôl a tharodd y bêl law amddiffynnwr y Seintiau, Simon Spender. Yr oedd yn amlwg i bob un mai cic rydd ydoedd ac mi oedd pob person yng Nghyncoed yn disgwyl i’r dyfarnwr, John Jones bwyntio at y smotyn gwyn a rhoi cic gosb i Met. Ond yn lle hynny ac yn hollol annisgwyl, rhoddodd gic rydd yn erbyn Hulbert. Anhygoel. Dyma sylwebaeth Sgorio yn yr uchafbwyntiau, “ Mae hynny’n gic o’r smotyn. Mae’n rhaid iddi fod. Be’ ar wyneb y ddaear mae’r dyfarnwr wedi gwneud?” Oes angen dweud mwy?

20.09.16

Cardiff Met 2-1 Newtown

The Archers went into the game after securing their first win of the season at Llandudno through a Kyle McCarthy penalty but were without the suspended Emlyn Lewis having seen red late on at Maesdu for a second booking. Newtown were also looking for their second win of the season and in front of a crowd of over 420 at Cyncoed the visitors stunned the home fans when in form striker Jason Oswell headed home with 18 minutes on the clock. Met battled to get back into the game but were lucky not to find themselves 2-0 down, when a Craig Williams cross was turned home by Boundford. Fortunately for the hosts, the goal was disallowed for a marginal offside and despite Will Evans seeing a header flash wide of the upright late on, the Robins went into the interval a goal to the good. The second period saw Roscrow go close for the Archers in the early stages and the Met striker wasn’t to be denied for long as he fired the hosts level on 65 minutes with a stunning half-volleyed drive into the top corner from a tight angle.

With Met in the ascendancy, they pushed forward in search of the winner, however Newtown were now playing on the break and should have regained the lead when Oswell headed over Fuller’s crossbar with the goal at his mercy. In truth, both sides had opportunities to win the game but it was the Archers who scored the all-important goal with five minutes remaining, Will Evans cutting inside the Newtown defence and shooting right-footed to beat Jones at his near post. The Robins pressed forward looking for the equaliser but the Met defence held firm to secure their second victory in three days. A week is a long time in football and the Archers proved how quickly a season can turn around with a 1-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town four days later, whilst the Robins fell to another defeat, this time at home to eventually relegated Airbus Broughton.

Bala Town are the next opponents for Christian Edwards’ men, with the in-form Lakesiders travelling to the capital. Bala Town currently sit third in the JD Cymru Premier with 27pts from their opening 12 matches, and sit two points behind defending Champions Connah’s Quay in second. The Archer’s will go into Saturday’s match following a win away at Flint Town United and having moved into seventh in the table ahead of tonight’s match against Newtown, and will hope a good result tonight will give them confidence against an in-form Bala Town. The away side are currently on an eight match unbeaten run and will provide tough opposition for the students who will take many positives from recent performances. Met’s last home match – a 0-1 defeat to unbeaten League Leaders TNS – was a much improved performance and proof that they can compete with the best teams in the division. JD Cymru Premier top goalscorer Chris Venables will his rich vein of form in front of goal at Cyncoed Shrewsbury-born striker on 13 goals coming into the Greg Draper (10) and Bala teammate William Evans (9) ing pack in the race for the Golden Boot.

It will be the first time the clubs have met this season after the reverse match was postponed. The original fixture, due to have been played on 24th October, has been rearranged and will now be played on 12th December, making this a double-header between the two clubs. Last season’s fixtures were both close affairs, with Cardiff Met FC doing the double over their northern opponents. A 1-2 away win at Maes Tegid was followed up with a narrow 1-0 victory at Cyncoed Campus as Christian Edwards’ men did the double last season. Bala Town have not won against the student side since November 2018, and are on a run of only 1 victory against Met in 7 matches, in all competitions, dating back to February 2018. A win for Met will strengthen their position and their ambitions of finishing in the top six ahead of a potential splitting of the division in January, while Bala Town will hope to maintain pressure on leaders TNS and defending champions Connah’s Quay above them.
