If the current moment is characterized by the excess of images and

they have just taken the place of mediators between human beings and things of the world, we affirm that studying the issue of image since its beginnings seemed to us an adequate mean of investigation, since someone is playing this role for us, if we no longer see the world through our conscience. Governments, churches and all social institutions seek to impose their ideology with the aid of images in the form of symbolic imposition. Claudio Brandao’s look is multisensorial and carries multiple signs. By taking images from reality, he builds other realities. As an ad professional, he creates and spreads consumable realities, esthetically arranged, delicately posted to sensitize latent memories. In his personal work, he extracts realities from reality, creates times and spaces manifested to make concrete memories which are sensitive and perceivable. In fact, both worlds interpenetrate: pop reality, urban, striking; and ephemerous reality, which capitalism dilutes every moment. But the looks made concrete in Claudio Brandao’s images strike us, and we are solemnly invited to reflect upon which reality we shall act, and which conscience must we have over them. Here he mixes machines, laces, models, tells us about time and spaces, and sharpens the critical memory. Maybe so that we can rebel against symbolic imposition.
