Logan Lowdown
Logan Tavern, the popular restaurant/pub just off the Circle, has unveiled a new menu: While chef de cuisine Michael Gassett retains favorites like Buffalo shrimp, ginger calamari, wasabi-crusted meatloaf and the fantastic Bloody Mary brunch, he has added cured meats, artisan cheese, homemade duck confit and pate; seared scallops with cous cous; bistro steak au poivre; grilled shrimp pappardelle; apple tart with vanilla-caramel sauce. Produce will soon come from recently acquired EatWell Natural Farm in La Plata, Maryland. Open daily, Logan Tavern is at 1423 P St. NW; call 202-332-2710.

1905 restaurant, 1905 Ninth St. NW, has also rolled out a summer menu. While old standbys remain, Chef Matthew has added appetizers and entrees like roasted beets with goat cheese, tuna tartare, crab cakes, divers scallops, Colorado lamb and–get this–a Berkshire pig roast. And every week at the bar, Matthew offers “Thursday Night Nines,” an assortment of $9 small plates. The dishes, not on the regular menu, change weekly. Meanwhile, Thursday night jazz is taking a summer vacation, and will resume in September. 1905 is open daily; call 202-3321905 or www.1905dc.com.
