Carolina Mayorga has exhibited her work nationally and internationally for the last 20 years. A Colombian-born and naturalized American citizen, she has had one-person exhibitions in Colombia, Mexico, at the University of Kansas and in the DC area. She has also participated in group exhibitions in Europe, Central and South America and numerous cities in the United States.

Southwest Nights at Arena Stage People who live or work in Southwest DC can buy discounted tickets for specially designated performances of each production. Tickets are $35 for musicals and $25 for non-musicals, plus fees. Proof of Southwest DC residency or employment for each member of the party must be presented at the time of pick-up. New DC Streetcar Online Guide The District Department of Transportation has launched a new H/Benning corridor guide for DC Streetcar passengers. This online feature of the DC Streetcar’s website showcases offerings for both residents and tourists, including restaurants, shops, entertainment and specialty services near each stop along the streetcar route. The online business guide is designed to help passengers discover all the activities available

Pet-a-Palooza and Barktoberfest On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Washington Humane Society presents The DC Walk for the Animals and Pet-a-Palooza featuring Barktoberfest. The DC Walk for the Animals is a one mile walk around the Capitol Riverfront area to raise money to benefit WHS-WARL and the 60,000 animals they serve each year. Entry fee is $35 for walkers, $20 for those under 21, and includes a t-shirt and gift bag. Enjoy vendor booths, dog contests, prizes, music, pet adoptions and kids’ entertainment. Learn Modern & Traditional Building Materials Local contractor Gary Barnhart will compare the characteristics of modern and traditional building materials and techniques on Thursday, Sept. 15, 6:30 p.m. at Ebenezer’s Coffee House, Second and E Streets NE.
