St. Amant students give back to Sheriff’s Office Advocate staff report St. Amant Baptist School students delivered cookies and appreciation Feb. 10 to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in the Gonzales courthouse annex. Sheriff Jeff Wiley and many members of his staff greeted the students and accepted the sweet treats. Wiley introduced the students to each member, explaining duties and responsibilities of the officers. In addition to platters of cookies and treats, the students brought thank you cards for the office.

Charles Boudreaux a resident of Geismar, LA died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was 66 years old. Charles leaves to cherish his precious memory 2 sisters Gail B. Allen of Geismar and Lorita and husband Gregory Powell of Pineville; 1 brother Albert and wife Gail Boudreaux of Geismar; children: Alfrieda W. Boudreaux of St. Gabriel, LA, Edwina Boudreaux of Sunshine, LA, Francine Williams of Carville, LA, Larita Boudreaux and Jermaine Boudreaux of Corsicana, Tx, Gregory Williams of St. Gabriel, LA. Loris Landry Gautreau, age 81, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. She was a native of Ponchatoula, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA. Loris is survived by her daughter, Michelle Danna and husband, Dominick Jr.; son, David Gautreau and wife, Lisa; brother, Lanell "Tony" Landry and wife, Ruby. Catherine Landry, 93, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. She was a native of Brusly, LA and resident of Prairieville. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Patricia Landry Hingle; son Leon Paul Landry and Brenda. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales was in charge of arrangements. Lloyd Burdis Sr. departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Thibodaux, LA. He was 75, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Napoleonville. A resident of Shreveport, she passed away at 2:10am on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 66 years old. King cakes created

Winey’s prekindergarten class made the cakes after learning about Louisiana state symbols and Mardi Gras and had to identify foods that are special to Louisiana. The created the cakes using doughnuts and colored icings.

Chad Michael Nichols, 37, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. Chad was an amazing person. He is survived by mother and stepfather, Myra Nichols Gros and Marvin Gros; one son, Cade Hernandez and his mother, Sunshine Barcelona; two sisters, Casey Gros-Hood and husband, Blake Hood, Sr., and Deshone Pfister; two brothers, Marvin Gros, Jr. and wife, Jill Weil-Gros and Aaron Gros and wife, Dana Comeaux Gros. A retired bricklayer and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 7:15 AM at his home. He was 71 years old and a US Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife Irma L. Reynard, daughter Andrea R. Daggs, sons; Herman Reynard, Jr. and Maurice Suel, sisters; Rosetta Brown, Geneva Landry, Sadie London, Loyce Reynard and Edna Joseph, brothers; Lester Reynard, David Reynard and Kenneth Reynard. Irma Hebert Sotile, a resident of Donaldsonville, joined her beloved husband of 56 years, Charley J. Sotile, in the presence of their Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at the age of 90.
