Boutiques are special because you won’t find the run-of-the-mill stuff you find in big department stores. The contents are hand-picked by its owners, with its customers in mind. You know your neighborhood has it all when it has its own boutique. And if it’s owned by a resident of the neighborhood, it’s a win-win all around. At Beyond the Door, located in the II Creeks Plaza Shopping Center, in the heart of Canyon Creek, there is something for everyone. When Canyon Creek Life had the opportunity to meet up with the shop owner, Sherri Albertson, we were overwhelmed with how many neat and unique items her store carried. It’s fun to know that there’s a store within blocks of your home where you can pick up the perfect holiday decorations, an outfit for yourself, or a gift for a friend. Whatever it is you’re looking for, Sherri and her staff are happy to help! And it always feels good to shop local and help out our fellow neighbors and friends. CCL: How Long Have You Been Open? Sherri Albertson: 7.5 Years CCL: Who makes up your staff? Sherri: A bunch of GREAT FRIENDS and FAMILY! CCL: Do you live in Canyon Creek? Sherri: Yes, we have lived here for 17 years. CCL: What gave you the inspiration to open Beyond the Door? Sherri: My garage was too full and Greg Cooney, the II Creeks owner at the time, reeled me in!
CCL: What was your background prior to BTD? Sherri: I was an RN until I had children, then I took on my most important role as a mom to my two children.
CCL: What makes BTD different than everyone else? Sherri: We try to create an experience for our customers when they enter “Beyond the Door”. We do that with creative and inviting displays, but by far the most important factor are the people who work for BTD.
CCL: What’s something our readers may not know about the Albertson family? Sherri: Sadly, we are not related to the Albertson’s grocery store. They’d also be surprised to know that our favorite times as a family are spent on our deer lease, hanging out in the blind, dressed in our camo!
CCL: What’s your best selling product? Sherri: Box Signs. They are great quotes that hit the mark for everyone.
CCL: What do you want the Canyon Creek Community to know about BTD? Sherri: Not only are we a destination for great gifts and women’s apparel, but we value our community and are happy to donate to
Boutique shopping, by definition, is a small retail shop that
many community groups. We also offer wine every weekend!
BRIANNE BURKERT
You can add Brianne Burkert to the list of Canyon Creek high school athletes to get a Division 1 scholarship. Brianne signed with Florida State University after four years of playing and leading the J.J. Pearce Mustangs volleyball team to the State Playoffs. She also played on the TAV Volleyball team that won the 17U National Championship in Minneapolis this last summer. Brianne is not only a stellar athlete, she’s a wonderful student, friend, and Canyon Creek neighbor, and we loved learning a little bit more about our newest Athlete of the Month.
