Green machine on the loose
A
green 2004 Kawasaki 85 cc motorcycle was stolen from a storage locker on a residential property in the 20300 block of Hammond Road in Maple Ridge. The theft occurred between Sunday July 4 and Thursday July 8. The thieves cut a padlock off the storage container and stole the trail motorcycle, an air compressor and assorted air tools, and a black Cannondale mountain bike. ❚ Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a break-in at a home in the 12300 block of 224 Street in Maple Ridge. The break-in occurred during the night of Wednesday, July 7 or in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 8 while the homeowner was away on holidays. The thieves got in by opening a front living room window. The house sitter does not know what is missing. Ridge Meadows RCMP want to remind citizens to let reliable neighbours know they’re going to be away, when they leave their homes to go on a vacation. You should
also inform the neighbours of who is going to look after the home. If you see anyone who does not appear to belong on a property, please call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 463-6251. ❚ Charges of impaired driving and refusing to supply suitable samples of her breath are being recommended against a 41year-old Pitt Meadows woman. At about 1 p.m. last Thursday, two off-duty RCMP members, who belong to the RCMP Lower Mainland District’s Emergency Response Team observed the woman driving erratically on Dewdney Trunk Road. They got the woman to stop in the 21400 block and called in a member of the Ridge Meadows RCMP Traffic Services unit to complete the investigation. The woman exhibited several indications of having consumed alcohol, so a demand under the authority of the Criminal Code of Canada was made, and the woman was brought back to the police detachment. The woman then refused to provide suitable samples of her breath, which
is also against the law. She will have to attend court in August in regards to the charges. ❚ Ridge Meadows RCMP are on the lookout for a man who stole an air conditioner from Rona. Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday the thief walked into the store at Lougheed Highway and 212 Street in Maple Ridge. The man picked up a portable air conditioner and walked out of the store without paying for it. He got onto a red bicycle and started to ride off. A loss prevention officer intercepted him but the suspect produced a machete, so he was able to ride away. Police are looking for a Hispanic male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes and dark skin. He was wearing a black hat, a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on it, a plastic vest (the kind worn by BMX stunt riders), a white sleeveless t-shirt, black shorts and white shoes. He was last seen riding his bike west along the Lougheed Highway towards 210 Street.
