Brayden Grozdanich, three, smiled while aboard his adapted tricycle, while representatives from McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Ltd. presented a $15,000 grant to the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre.

Big wheels keep on turning thanks to program TROY LANDREVILLE editorial@mrtimes.com Brayden Grozdanich has his own shiny set of wheels to ride on, thanks to an innovative program offered by the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre (RMCDC). Brayden, 3, has a blast buzzing around on a modified tricycle loaned to him by the

centre as part of its Adapted Bicycle Program. When Brayden outgrows the bike, it will be handed down to another child of his current size. “He loves to ride his bike,” Brayden’s mom Toni said. “All he wants to do is ride his bike and blast through puddles.” Brayden is a beneficiary of the program, which received a financial shot in the arm Tues-

day morning from McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Ltd. McDonald’s representatives Angena Kumar, Robbin McManne, and Darren Harper presented a cheque for $15,000 to the RMCDC. The grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities will support the centre’s adapted bikes and toys program, as well as child literacy.

The Chief Scout’s Award is the highest award which can be achieved at the Scout level. This year’s local recipients are Andrew Pengelly, Brandon Champagne, Clayton Jensen, Derrick Tam, Jaime Whitford, Leonie Uriel, Liam Kent, and Matthew Piton. Peter Tam, the retired Area Commissioner, said, “what is exceptional about these kids is that they put a lot of time in community services.” They have volunteered with many local organizations, including Alouette River Management Society and the recycling society. Tam said, “these are the kids that have done more than their share.”
