Grace Misek - Lethbridge, Alberta The Canadian Junior Hereford Association (CJHA) and Keith Gilmore Foundation (KGF) are pleased to announce that Grace Misek of Lethbridge, Alberta, has been chosen for the $1,000 Future of the Breed Scholarship. Grace is a recent graduate of Chinook High School in Lethbridge, Alberta. She will be studying Agricultural Sciences at Lethbridge College with a major in Animal Sciences. She has been a Canadian Junior Hereford Association (CJHA) member since 2013 and has been showing Herefords since 2002, from the age of two. This year, Grace travelled to Quebec to attend her fourth Bonanza. She is a big fan of Bonanza. “Through this great show, I have met friends from across Canada and the world who share my love of Hereford cattle,” she says. “This year, I signed up to be a Bonanza Buddy, to help mentor the younger youth and share my enthusiasm for Herefords.” Grace’s other interests include being very active in minor hockey, as a long-time player and more recently taking on roles as assistant coach and on-ice instructor for young athletes. Her goals, after completing her education, include owning land, building a strong cow-calf operation and raising Hereford beef.

CANADIAN HEREFORD ASSOCIATION

Memorial Scroll Honour Roll

The Canadian Hereford Association honours individuals who are recognized as leaders in the development of the Hereford breed in Canada. This Award is not limited to Hereford breeders. Guidelines for the award recognize that many people on the perimeters of the Hereford industry make outstanding contributions as employees, elected representatives, research scientists, livestock specialists, etc. For these reasons, it is the intention of the Canadian Hereford Association to consider everyone associated with the Hereford industry in bestowing such awards. We place on the Honour Roll those living persons who we deem to have been most instrumental to the well being of the industry. A Memorial Scroll recognizes leaders who have passed on. It is not a coincidence that those persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the Hereford industry are also very much involved with their families in community affairs. In many instances, while we know them best for their leadership in the Hereford industry, they are also leaders in other phases of agricultural production. The assistance and knowledge of such men and women improves the well being of everyone who comes in contact with them. Many of our Canadian Hereford industry leaders have been recognized nationally and internationally for their unselfish dedication to the improvement of life for their fellow man.
