Local dancers sparkle on Lougheed stage

Leighton Mytz of the Viking Dance Club is part of a medium jazz group that performs “Better When I’m Dancing” at the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre during the Sparkle Dance Festival on April 7.

Viking Dance Club members, from left to right, Macy Morken, Leila Hopkins, Kyra Pollington, Sarah Terlesky, Cecelia Tkaczyk, Leighton Mytz, Jorja-Dawn Bexson and Sheridan Kolenosky create a wheel in “Straighten Up and Fly Right” in the medium tap group category. The girls earned a gold medal for the stellar routine.

The jazz small group with members Thi-Anna Olenick, left, Mauria Forster and Kaidence Johannesson from the Forestburg Dance Society turned in a great performance of “Call Me Maybe” in the eight-year-old category.
