Linda Rosalyne Friesen April 7, 1949 – January 7, 2013 Sadly, Linda’s life here on earth ended tragically in a vehicle accident on Monday, January 7, 2013, at the age of 63. She is now with our heavenly Father, and for this we all rejoice! Linda Rosalyne Friesen (nee Schellenberg) was born on April 7, 1949 in Winkler, Manitoba and, as a child, was raised on a farm in the Amsterdam School District near Rosenfeld. Those were the days when transportation to and from school was by buggy in the summer and by sleigh in the winter. Her high school years were spent in Altona, and later she became a graduate of Millar Memorial Bible Institute in Pambrun, Saskatchewan where she also met the love of her life, Ivan. They were joined in matrimony on September 4, 1971. Linda is survived by Ivan, her loving husband of 41 years; her children Jonathan (Tricia), Cordell (Kara) and Melanie (Matthew Prebble); her beloved grandchildren Owen, William, Mirren, McKenna, Sienna and Annika; her siblings Reynold (Shirley), Elvera, Marlene (Walter Hiebert) and Milton (Lise); sister-in-law Lena Schellenberg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Henry R. Schellenberg and her mother Anna (nee Braun); sister Laura; and, most recently, her brother John. Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For many years, she was actively involved in various church ministries in support of Ivan’s pastoral ministry. Churches they served included ministries in Ontario, BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Near her retirement years, she took on a challenging job as manager of an independent-living seniors’ residence in Camrose, Alberta. She and Ivan loved to travel and spend time with their family. Linda was an extremely proud mother and grandmother. She will forever be in our hearts, and will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her. A funeral service was held on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Wetaskiwin Mission Church. Memorial donations gratefully accepted to World Vision or to the Samaritan’s Purse. She leaves to mourn her mother Audrey Rayment; sister Catherine (David) Bray, and children Marie (Kris), Sara (Chad) and Ryan; brother Brant (Lois) Rayment and children Natalie (Mike), Megan and Marcus; brother Ken (Elizabeth) Rayment and children Clayton and Chase; first cousin/best friend and support Christine (Dr. Kenneth) Cha and children Justine and Vanessa; Auntie Fay (Al); and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. As a child, Margo was a happy freckly-faced kid who loved adventures out at the cabin such as waterskiing, horseback riding, snow skiing and exploring the woods. She loved animals and rescued many. Margo’s love for horses led her to compete provincially and to win the Junior Championship at Spruce Meadows one year. Margo achieved a Phys. Ed. degree, and continued on to receive a Law degree. After being admitted to the Bar, she taught English in both Korea and Japan for a few years. Her ultimate goal since childhood was to work for the United Nations. When she finally achieved this goal, she was employed as a resettlement officer in many places such as Malaysia, Sudan, Jordan and Uganda. Margo suffered from post traumatic stress disorder over the last three years. Her humanitarian efforts and self-sacrificing personality will not be forgotten.
