Tip of the Month X Factor Power In order to hit the ball far, you may have heard about the X factor, which was originally taught by Jim McLean. As a certified McLean instructor, I had to spend a lot of time learning from him and the X factor was one of the biggest things he taught. The X factor is the amount of degrees you turn your shoulders at the top of the swing, lets say 90, minus the degrees of hip turn, lets say 40 degrees, so the X factor would then be 90 – 40 = 50 degrees. The greater the X factor, the more torque or power you can generate. Both flexibility and strength are required to optimize your X factor, but the main thing remains coordination. You have to learn to move your individual body parts independently from each other and in the most efficient sequence, which is what makes golf so hard. The biggest problem I see with Amateurs, is that they don’t turn their hips nor shoulder enough in the backswing, but more importantly is that they start their downswing by turning their shoulders, thus effectively reducing whatever power was built up, whereas the pros start their downswing by turning their hips, thus effectively increasing their X factor, which is also known as X factor Stretch. I hope the images can make this clear and although the pros can achieve superhuman numbers, if you can strive for a 90 degree shoulder turn and a 45 degree hip turn and start your downswing with your hips or ensure your hips lead the shoulders until after impact, then you will hit it significantly further, but beware, it’s going to feel funny, but that’s alright if the ball goes long and straight. Good luck.

Leisure Tour Feature Osaka Excursion

Let’s explore one of the world’s greatest food cities in Japan! We will take you to Tsutenkaku area, Dotonbori area, and Osaka Castle. Osaka Castle, which is a famous landmark, a popular sightseeing spot, and the symbol of Osaka, contains thirteen structures which have been designated as Important Cultural Assets by the Japanese government. Of special note are the grand gates and turrets along the outer moat. The steep walls that rise close to 30 meters high are made of huge blocks of stone that were transported to Osaka from quarries over 100 kilometers away. The sheer height of the walls and the wide moats they rise above make for a grand sight that can be matched by no other castle in Japan. Also of interest are the tower’s eight roof dolphins and the ornamental roof tiles and reliefs carved in the shape of tigers, all of which are gilded with gold. The castle tower underwent a major renovation in 1997. The outer walls were replastered, the ornamental fixtures were restored, and gold leaf was re-applied throughout. These repairs have brought back the structure’s stunning appearance of old with pure white walls and striking accents of glittering gold. The re-engineered and refurbished Main Tower is illuminated both inside and out, highlighting the castle’s brilliance as the symbol of Osaka.

Summer Camp is sold in ten weekly packages. Included are meals, snacks, high adventure activities, and weekly field trips. School Age Center has been an active unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America promote positive youth development through the provision of opportunities for young people to develop the skills they will need to become successful and contributing members of our communities.
