Are you interested in becoming a teacher?

The Doncaster Regional Alliance for Teacher Training (secondary) - DRAFTTs is an alliance of Doncaster Secondary schools, academies, Special schools & Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) working collaboratively to deliver high quality schoolbased Initial Teacher Training (ITT). The Doncaster ITT Partnership is the Accredited ITT Provider for DRAFTTs and has been supporting school-based teacher training since 2003. Working closely with schools, academies, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and the University Centre Doncaster, the Partnership has trained hundreds of teachers. Many former students are now in senior posts in our schools and some are now helping to train the next generation of teachers. The Partnership’s training provision was inspected by Ofsted in June 2012 and was awarded an overall ‘Good’, but with some ‘Outstanding’ aspects (‘Recruitment & Selection’ and ‘Trainee Attainment’).

Why do school-based training? If having more time training in the classroom, putting theory into practice and gaining confidence through increased contact with the school environment is important to you, then school-based training is probably a good option over the more traditional university or college based routes. All schools in DRAFTTs endeavour to deliver the best possible in-school training with excellent training facilities and other school experiences in a number of Alliance schools. DRAFTTs schools, working with the Doncaster ITT Partnership, pride themselves on keeping the training local, meaning reduced travelling time that allows students more planning and preparation time.
