Angela Fay (Angie) Bergheger, age 64, of Plainville, formerly of Kinderhook,died Saturday evening June 6, 2015 in Sunset Home, Quincy, IL. She was born in Quincy, Jan. 21, 1951, a daughter of Buck William and Barbara Dean (Kelley) Gill. Angie is survived by a son Buck Bergheger of Plainville and two daughters, Stacy Mc Elfresh of Hannibal, Mo. and Noel Bergheger Christison of Plainville. She was the proud grandmother of three grandsons, Darrin and Dawson Bergheger both of Plainville and Daniel Thomas of Barry and three granddaughters Hailee Bergheger of Kansas City, Mo. as well as Alyzabeth Christison and Maddison Adams both of Plainville. Angie is also survived by three brothers, Russell Gill of Hull, Roger Gill of Springfield, Michael Gill of Seattle, Wash. and two sisters Lynda Richmiller of Camp Point and Kathy McClish of Cincinnatti, Ohio, nine nephews and four nieces. She was preceded in death by a son Darrin McElfresh, a brother Richard Gill and her parents. Angie was a certified nursing assistant and had worked at the Barry Community Care Center for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, she liked to read and gamble but most of all she loved being with her grandkids. Visitation were Tuesday June 9 at Kirgan Funeral Home, Barry. Funeral services will be held at the graveside Wednesday June 10 at 10 a.m. in the Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook. Memorials are suggested to the Hull-Kinderhook Fire Dept. David Wilson Brimm, 75 of Pittsfield passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. David was born on December 17, 1939 in Time, IL, a son of Woodrow Wilson and Donna P. Grable Brimm. He married Barbara Ann DeSpain on April 20, 1962 in the Pittsfield Baptist Church parsonage; she survives. David graduated from Griggsville High School in 1958. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958 - 1961. He worked for Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield until its closure. In 1979 David started working for the City of Pittsfield in the street and alley maintenance department retiring in 2004 after twentysix years of service. He had also worked for the Pittsfield city airport for a time. David had attended the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield. He was a life time member (53 years) of Pittsfield Moose Lodge #420 serving as administrator for many years and also a Moose Legion member officer for District #5 for fifteen years. He was a member of the Pike County Farm Bureau and Ducks Unlimited. He loved duck hunting, deer hunting and fishing. David loved visiting with people and telling stories. He is survived by his mother, Donna P. Manker of Eastside Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield and his wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Rose (Rodney) Smith of Quincy; cousin, Joanie Grable of Griggsville; one nephew and three nieces; in addition to several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, step father, Junior Manker in 2013, a cousin, Betty Grable in 2012 and an uncle and aunt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Jim Jacques officiating. Moose Funeral Rites will be accorded by the Illinois Moose Association District #5 prior to the service. Visitation will be held Monday evening, June 8, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home. Interment will be in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield. Dorothy A. Reynolds Dorothy A. Reynolds, 87, of Barry,died Tuesday morning, June 9, 2015, at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry. She was born July 20, 1927, in Pleasant Vale Township, Pike County to Edward and Fidella (McDonald) Sigler. She is survived by one daughter, Leslie Reynolds of Barry, (fiance Gary Fowler) of Vandalia, Mo., one son, Mark Reynolds, (wife Debra of Barry) and four grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother - John Sigler (wife Norma) of New Canton. She was preceded in death by one brother in infancy and her parents. Dorothy taught at West Pike High School for 33 years, teaching English and Latin and was school librarian. She loved to travel, cook and garden. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jamestown Society, Decedents of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge, the National Society of Daughters of the Union 1861-1865 and the Barry Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Mary Belle Mary Belle surgeon died March 24, 2015, in Florissant Mo. where she had spent the last 63 years. She was the daughter of Elmer H. and Ruby (nee Merrick) Fitchett. She was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Chillicothe Mo. She grew up in Pleasant Hill. She graduated in 1944 from Pleasant Hill High School, being both a cheerleader and baton twirler. She is survived by her most loving husband, Wayne Boyd Surgeon, of 65 years; sons Gary, Mike (wife, Rita), Jeff (wife, Sharon); sisters Lois Hubbard and Wanda Ruggles; grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunt, cousins and many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents and most loved grandmother, Ollie Belle Merrick.
Jeremiah Poor Jeremiah J Poor, 36, of Pittsfield died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Springfield. He was born Oct. 11, 1978 to Jessica Stenwall in Riverside, Calif. He married Erin Marie Hall Oct. 10, 1997 in Pittsfield and she survives. Also surviving Jeremiah are two sons, Joseph and Samuel Poor, both of Pittsfield; brothers Jake Poor of Bloomington, Josh (Sarah) Poor of Bloomington and sister Rachel Poor of Bloomington; grandfather David Stenwall, Roger and Tina Hall, his mother and father-in-law, as well as sisters-in-law Nikki (Kermit) Barker and Sarah (Chris) Seymoure. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Virginia Stenwall. Jeremiah was a very loving, caring, and loyal man who loved his family and friends with all his heart. His County Market co-workers were his extended family and he enjoyed being around them, to work hard, tease and make the work ‘fun’. Funeral services were held Monday, June 8, at 2 p.m. at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Visitation was held Sunday, June 7 at AirsmanHires Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Mary Redman Mary Redman, 80 of Pittsfield, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. Mary was born March 5, 1935, a daughter to the late Roy and Elizabeth Blacketer Coleman. She married George Gilbert and he preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Oscar William Redman who preceded her in death. Mary was born and raised in Alton, where she attended church and was a Sunday school teacher before relocating to Pike County to be closer to her family. She was a homemaker and she loved word search puzzles and watching soap operas. Her greatest love was her family. She loved the little children and loved having them around. She is survived by two sons, George (Faye) Gilbert of Griggsville and Oscar William (Sarah) Redman of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Sandra Stone of Alton; Katherine Louise Redman of Bunker Hill, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Additional survivors are brothers, Joe (Sarah) Coleman of Godfrey; Paul Gene Coleman of Bethalto; sisters, Lucy Jacoby of Godfrey and Dorothy Pruitt of Cottage Hills; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her two husbands, a sister, Margaret Coleman and two brothers, Bud Coleman and Frank Wiseman. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, at the Gray Cemetery near New Salem with Jim Jacques officiating. There was no public visitation. Lillian McKenzie Lillian McKenzie, 84, of Springfield, died Thursday June 4, 2015 at her residence. She was born Aug. 8, 1930 in Pittsfield to Howard M. and Beulah C. Northup Phillips. Lillian married Robert McKenzie and he preceded her in death. Mrs. McKenzie is survived by two sons: John (companion Susan Boylen) Kruger of Springfield, and Kenneth (Regina) Dryden of Schaumburg, four grandchildren: Michael and Richard Kruger and Joshua and Katherine Dryden, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Arthur Lee Kruger and 10 brothers and sisters: Stanley Winfred, Rachel Speck, James Howard, Harold Arthur, Kenneth Clifford, Ella Odetta Garrett, Berndine Garner, Flavius Betley, Edith Elizabeth Chapman, and Wanda Rose Klages. Lillian was currently employed by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office as a cashier tech II. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with her husband Bob, reading, and spending many hours at Barnes and Noble. Duane Wilson Duane Glen Wilson, 88 of Griggsville, died Tuesday evening, June 2, 2015 at his residence in Griggsville. Duane was born April 11, 1927 a son of the late Raymond Elmer and Anita Schroder Wilson. He married Joyce E. Harris in Lancaster, Mo. April 11, 1959; she survives. Duane was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany. He moved to Beardstown in 1968 working for Oscar Meyer as a sanitation specialist. After retiring in 1984 from Oscar Meyer, he and Joyce relocated to Oklahoma then to Florida where they currently live. They enjoyed living and visiting with their family during the summer in Griggsville. Duane loved to fish, talk politics and Illini basketball. He is survived by his wife Joyce currently of Griggsville; sons, Marvin Ladely of Florida and Stephen (Lisa) Ladely of Meredosia; daughters, Vickie (Roger) Summers of Pittsfield; Elaine (Steve) Dewey of Florida; Ellen (Jerry) Claus of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren, Hope (Steve) Furniss, Paul (Deea) Vortman, Jack Foust, Victoria Green, Dylan Green, Cole Ladely, Cassidy Ladely, Cammie Chrisman, Jonathon Hanson, Michelle Johnson and Joyce Watekotte; in addition to five greatgrandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a granddaughter in infancy. Graveside services will be held in the McFarland Cemetery in What Cheer, Iowa. Lois Ann Dexter Johnson, 72, Ste. Genevieve, Mo., formerly of Pleasant Hill died Monday, June 8, 2015 at Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital. She was born July 12, 1942 in Pleasant Hill, a daughter of Theodore (Ted) and Rena (Opal) Dexter. She is survived by one sister, Barbara Edwards of Quincy and a brother-in-law, Virginia Dexter of Quincy, a sisterin-law, Virginia Dexter of Peoria. Also surviving are one daughter, Lisa C. Schlueter of Ste. Genevieve, two sons, Phillip Chenoweth of Pleasant Hill and Gary Chenoweth of Wood River; A son-inlaw Dean Schlueter and a daughter-in-law Darlene Chenoweth.Seven grandchildren also survive: Joshua, Michael and Stephanie Schlueter, Aaron Chenoweth, Ashley Elliot, Amber Rector and Christopher Chenoweth; 14 great-grandchildren: My and Maci Schlueter of SDte. Genevieve, Addison Elliot of Louisiana, Mo., Breeann, Cassidy and MaKinley of Pittsfield; Joshua, Jayden, Jordan, Julie, Jessica, C.J. and Emily of Wood River. Her smile lit up the room. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Dexter of Peoria. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11 at the Wood Family Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. Graveside services will be Friday, June 12 at 1 p.m at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley Shipley
Shirley Shipley of Pittsfield, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Athensville, to Fred and Mildred Williams Hopper. She married Dean Elmo Frazier who preceded her in death in June, 1973. She later married Paul Shipley, March 4, 1987, and he preceded her in death Dec. 6, 2012. Shirley is survived by her children, Greg (Deanna) Frazier of Barry, Jeff (Heidi) Frazier of Great Falls, Mont.and Cheryl (Rusty) Henline of Roodhouse. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Ford of Roodhouse and brother Paul Hooper of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers Dean Hopper, John Hopper, Bill Hopper, Jim Hopper, Ronnie Hopper, and sisters Virginia Buchanan, Geneveve Elliott, Kate Friday and Betty Jane Hopper. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening, working and arranging her flowers, and traveling. She was particularly fond of traveling to the local opries. She was also an avid sports fan. Her heart belonged to the Chicago Cubs and her family, whom she loved to spend time with. Private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Senior Center.
