Kvorka’s celebrate 60 years
Emil and Virginia Kvorka of Pittsfield celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 12. Emil Kvorka and Virginia Powell were married Sept. 12, 1954 at Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church in Chicago. They are the parents of six children, Nancy Kvorka of Sunnyvale, Cali.; Paul (Erin) Kvorka of Chicago; Linda (Mirko) Markotic of Chula Vista, Cali.; Mary Curkov of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; John (Kerry) Kvorka of Jacksonville, Ill. and Richard (Palanya) Kvorka of Park Ridge, Ill. The Kvorka’s have 14 grandchildren: Rose (Giovanni) Gastelum
of San Francisco, Cali.; Michael (Allison) Curkov of Colchester, VT.; Heather Kvorka of Chicago; Marko Markotic of Chula Vista, Cali.; William Kvorka of Chicago; Nicholas Curkov of Palatine; James Markotic of Pacifica, Cali.; Kaitlyn Kvorka of Bloomington, Ill., Emily Kvorka of Pittsfield; Tyler and Travis Kvorka of Park Ridge, Ill.; Sara, Grace and Ben Kvorka of Jacksonville, Ill. An open house celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 from 2-4 p.m. at Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Cards would be greatly appreciated, but no gifts, please.

Rodhouses host reunion
“We were the best class to graduate from Pleasant Hill High School that year,” Jerry Rodhouse said of the PHHS Class of 1959. Rodhouse recently hosted a reunion for the class at his home and smoked chickens in the famous Rodhouse. Sophie and Addison Edwards celebrated their 1st Birthday August 19th. They are the children of Caitlyn Baker and Justin Edwards of Pittsfield. Those attending the party were grandparents Bob and Tina
Edwards, Kenny and Kerry Baker, Kristen and Jeff Allgood. Great grandparents Gary and Margaret Guthrie, great, great, great grandma Pauline Guthrie. Several aunts and uncles, family and friends.

Frank Borrowman turned 3 July 21. Family helped him celebrate with a construction party. Frank is the son of Jon and Jessica Borrowman of Pittsfield and big brother to Finley. Grandparents are Danny and Teresa Roberts and Paul and Missy Borrowman of Pittsfield. Great-grandparents are Richard and Barbara Hall and Carroll Borrowman of Pittsfield, and Linda Cull of Rural Baylis.
Turner to celebrate 90th Birthday
Open house for Zelma Turner’s 90th Birthday will be held on October 11, 2014 at the Senior Citizens Center of Pleasant Hill, at 1-3 p.m. No Gifts Please.

OLD SETTLERS DAYS 34th Annual Old Settlers Days Oct. 11-12
Kampsville Riverfront will come alive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dan Barth, “Medicine Man”, Chris Camp, “The Whip Guy” Wild West Show “Circle of Friends” Band Soap Making, Blacksmithing, Bow Building, Flint Knapping, Old Tools Displays, Woodworking, Chainsaw Carving, and other demonstrators. Stroll through the Mountain Men area, Visit the Civil War encampment Children can enjoy the petting zoo, pony rides, jewelry making, face-painting, old time peddle cars, children’s area.
