Senior soup supper before game Friday night

Gary Pence from Rockport was in the hospital for a few days but is home now doing fine. We are going to have some nice weather.

Friday Jan. 23 from 5 until 6:30 p.m., the Pleasant Hill High School seniors will be holding a soup supper. The meal consists of chili, crackers, desert and drink for $5 and you can add a chili dog for $1.00 There will be an IDNR hunter’s safety course at the Nebo Dog House at 163 S. Main St. in Nebo. This will be Thursday, February 26, from 6 until 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8:a.m. until 4 p.m. You must attend both sessions. (lunch will be served at the Saturday session). Liberty Village At Liberty Village, we have had a full week of activities, including exercises, special church services, a washer tournament, a spa day, BINGO, current events, baking club, movies, and manicures. It’s been a fun week for our residents, as we have been busy playing games inside due to the cold weather. This week was a highlighted week for our baking club, as we tried new recipes off Pinterest! Residents have been enjoying picking out recipes off Pinterest that they have wanted to try.

This week we tried peanut butter oatmeal bites, which was a big hit! Residents have enjoyed being pampered this week, as we enjoyed a day of hair, skin, and nail care. Our residents enjoyed getting their hair and nails done this week while watching movies and eating popcorn. If anyone is interested in volunteer work, please come in and talk to me. Residents love seeing new faces and interacting with new people. This would include social time, helping with activities such as play-

Recycling is still going strong every Friday from 9:30 - 1:30 out by the Bowlers’ Universe in west Pittsfield. I take ours every couple weeks, and I’ll even tell you what I normally take: empty milk bottles, empty laundry detergent bottles, empty medicine bottles (without the labels on them please), empty soda and water bottles, and newspapers. How old was Noah when the Flood happened? Jan. 1, 2015, Quincy Foster, Susanne Curry’s niece in Kansas, was involved in a fatal accident on her way to Wichita, Kansas, early in the evening. The pavement was icy in places and a semi was involved in the accident. Cleve and Susanne attended the funeral Jan. 6th at the College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas. Though Quincy was only 20 years old, her artistic interests and wide involvement in many aspects of campus life had a positive influence on many students, family, and friends. Thelma McGraw sent me a text to tell a few things for this column. Granddaughter Kristine celebrated her 15th birthday at her house with her dad, grandmother, her great uncle Danny, and her sister Desere. She requested her great-grandpa Blacketer’s favorite German chocolate cake with coconut frosting. She is planning a skating party later now that semesters are over. She can hardly wait to get her white slip to drive. She and grandma Thelma having been passing back and forth a flu bug of sorts. Thelma gave up and almost went into pneumonia. She praises the oncology department at Illini Community Hospital and states how grateful we all should be to have this in our area. Very short and sweet this week, folks. Kin Folks

There will be a band Kin Folks at The Pike County Senior Citizens on January 31st. Food will be served at 5:30 p.m. and music will start at 7 p.m. This will be the last band until next April. This is a terrific music group, very much worth coming and listening to. If the weather permits. If there is a lot of snow or ice, we will cancel.

Received work that Wayne Ward passed away in Texas. Heard plans were to bring him back to this area for the funeral. Wayne ministered at a couple of congregations and had the Ward family singing group for many years. He and Carol worked tirelessly at the Mississippi Valley Christian Service Camp out at Rock Hill. Many here were touched by his ministry. Ina Frances (Sug) Miller Ramshaw passed away in Louisiana Mo. She was the sister of Todd Miller and Wilmer (Buddy) Miller. Services will be Jan 31. We did a lot of shopping and eating out. Love going to all the Goodwill and Salivation Army stores looking for treasures. The weather has been wonderful. Risley's house guest goes home to San Angelo Lance and Gayla Risley and sons enjoyed weekend guest Emily Levy of San Angelo, Texas. The Risleys had kept Emily’s dog for the past year while she was stationed in Korea. After spending the weekend visiting with the Risleys, Emily and her dog, Boozer, returned to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo. Milton Pearl HCE met Jan. 12 at the Milton Community Center. Hostesses Pam Sethalar and Jeanne Howard presented the lesson on “Does Birth Order Matter”. HCE will meet next Feb. 9 at the Pearl Community Center at 6 p.m. for a chili and chocolate supper.
