LOYALTY SBN Ramón Navarro

LOYALTY TO HIS MARTIAL ART

AS TO HIS TEACHER AND ENTITY Sbn Ramón Navarro Loyalty is the devotion of a person or citizen to a state, ruler or leader, community, person, cause or to himself. Loyalty is a principle that basically consists of never turning your back on a certain person or social group that are united by bonds of friendship or by some social relationship, that is, the fulfillment of honor and gratitude, loyalty is more attached to the relationship in a group. There are functional family and dysfunctional families. It is not a subject that I bring to make judgement, but if it is known that a functional family like a dysfunctional; one can have its ups and downs and it is also known that a functional family is more certain to have a better union and this can be called loyalty. The best thing in loyalty is not to deceive its members, so they have a greater union. In a martial art there must be a family behavior and it must be functional one. If a martial art school

is marginalized, that is, it does not belong to an organization than it can be said that it is adrift and if it is adrift, does it not mean that it is not a good school and does not teach well, but there are drawbacks such as the one that who teaches that teacher or guide of this school? It will be that the teacher will have to learn from videos and teach what this martial art offers and thus do not end up mixing teachings from other martial arts. There will also be a trusted person who will teach you about the rank to follow that teacher so that you can formally obtain a rank that is a registered rank with some organization and thus the students not only learn what is due to their art and not lose the essence of that martial art. It can be a house or school that is not registered with any organization, but for this, that teacher must have a high enough rank so that, as I think, we all know that after the 4th or 5th Dan there is not much more to learn, only time to pass the rank and so that head of house or school can gain new rank and in this way he can, based on loyalty to himself as well as to his martial art, raise the rank of his students. That does not indicate that at higher levels say at 6th or 7th Dan you cannot learn any more, especially in HapKiDo which does not have Hyungs, the word equivalent to Kata in Japanese martial arts or Korean martial arts for example Tul or PoomSae also PalGue in martial arts that have forms. There is loyalty to his students as to his teacher and to the organization to which he belongs and it is the teacher's teacher. This is by not fooling yourself by giving a new rank to a student who does not comply with the discipline, the required time and an example attitude to follow of the student before the people who participate or have to do with that school or house. This includes the martial community of your entity or organization of your martial community. Additionally, it must be seen that loyalty is reciprocal because in a family one has to be respectful of oneself and of others also it cannot be that a teacher wants the loyalty of his students but does not worry about complying with what he must provide to their students. This is like the respect one must give to receive. You must also motivate your students so that they keep the spirit of following the work to be done and thus continue advancing. This is a sensitive issue that and if adhered to, loyalty will make an organization grow and not dissipate in generations to come. Based on

how this attitude of respect and motivation is shown, it will make growth not only in the Academy but also in the development of growth and expansion of this organization that is based on loyalty. What a little word right? If loyalty is reciprocal, organization will grow more dynamically based on the motivation acquired from this activity which is to the liking of all the students and members not only from the teacher and not to say excellent. It is better to have students who have slow learning progress, and physical or coordination difficulties to execute certain movements and if that student is not suitable on doing the kicks with jumps and turns, he should also have the right and the duty to obtain a higher rank from where he is and not let him get stuck there. Are there children who misbehave, well, there are students who do whatever they want and don't follow guidelines such as not picking fights in the street or against members of other schools, be they or not from their own martial art so because you the guide have to talk to that student orientating him about it even asking him not to be that way since why look for enemies? Even in the best families, it has happened that if a child does not live according to the rules, he can be disinherited or expelled from his family. Badmouthing other martial artists or other martial art schools is not an honorable thing to do. If you act that way you are not being loyal to the tradition of that great teacher who in a family can be the grandfather who taught that living a good life is earning respect, admiration and thus living a life in peace with friends who are its own organization even of other arts different from its own can coexist as what we are, human beings. I, Ramón Navarro, was a student at SabomNim Prospero Ellis (RIP) in Moo Duk Kwan TangSooDo from November 1974 until he left Panama in December 1976. He told me that in a year he would have to leave and I thought I would be left without a teacher, but in In October 1976 by chance, Grand Master Park, SongIL of Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo, arrived in Panama with whom I began to learn this beautiful Korean martial art of self-defense when I met him that January 1977 to date May 2022 that I am expanding this beautiful art of self-defense internationally through the International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation with the endorsement of KwanjangNim Park SongIL who is not only the father of HapKiDo from Panama, he is the founder of this style the Song Moo Kwan of HapKiDo.
