HapKiDo from its Root and its Philosophy

The martial art worldwide, although it is said that it comes from the east, but I believe that all civilizations, that is the different races that have subsisted since ancient times is that with the spread of the word from generation to generation the various armies that have subsisted, is because in some way they managed to methodize a training that was improving and growing, but what is true is that it was systematized from the East because of A or B reason. It was achieved through wars and expanded around the world since soldiers for various reasons that we all know, such as in the Second World War, the Americans were many and they had Latinos in the US Army supporting the end of the war that they were stationed in eastern countries. Mainly in Korea, Japan and Vietnam well mostly in Japan they learned Karate, in Korea they learned at that time of the years of the Second World War KwonBop (Japanese type with more kicks), Subahk (Chinese type or KungFu), Karate, Judo ( YoDo or YuSul) or KenDo (like GumDo) that at that time would be transformed into Korean schools or styles based on some type of Karate to generalize and was transformed after this war and when Korea was liberated by the direction of Commander Choi Hong Hi that he lead the new army of South Korea and was given the military rank of General to Commander Choi Hong Hi and he reorganized the army with which achieving promotion and part of this exam included martial art or self-defense part of doing what he call TaeKwonDo and until the Korean War that came from 1950 to 1953. Leaving this nation that is known today as North Korea divided and its real name is The Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the other is The Republic of Korea known as South Korea.

Without covering more in the historical or political part, we are in this year of 2021 and martial arts have grown, that the original organizations have been divided into different and separate martial art organizations. This has happened in Japan and in Korea. These arts are learned in all parts of the world. The best known are from Japan the Japan Karate Federation and from Korea basically two entities such as TangSooDo or TaeKwonDo that has two entities basically the WTF or World TaeKwonDo Federation with the KukKiWon and ITF as the International TaeKwonDo Federation and are based on sport as well as almost all martial arts with the exception of HapKiDo. Even so the latter mentioned HapKiDo there are organizations of this martial art that have transformed it into a sport. This causes risk in the essence of the martial art itself. The sport is good only that because of its rules it is abiding by all martial arts and causes a personality based on the ego and not on the character, which is what the martial art should do, develop the character of the student and not call it a practitioner or person. . Let's remember that we are not talking historically but in the general activity of Martial Art, whatever it is called.

They all speak that they learn selfdefense but really and with due respect and not to argue the issue. They all say they do self-defense and that in general they have parts that are what they generally say they do as self-defense as blocking techniques with counter attacks in one step or three step technically. Really, the self-defense of all martial arts is divided into two branches: one that I mentioned above and the other is how to dominate the opponent in a certain situation. I will not much explain this because I would end up writing a book and that is not the idea of this that I share here.

teaching since February 1977, which is almost 45 years and HapKiDo is not necessarily better than other martial arts although it includes what all other martial arts have. This Korean martial art is the pure essence of Korean martial art for self-defense. It was not made as a sport since it was for war and although today there is no war there is a lot of conflict in the streets of all the countries in the world and it is necessary for all citizens in the world to be able to learn to defend themselves, especially women and minors. More with these situations of bullying in schools. It is also beneficial to health regardless of the age of the individual.

In the years that I have been developing in the Song Moo HapKiDo, thanks to the Master of Teachers or KwanjangNim Park, Song IL 9th Dan who is not only the one who brought this martial art of pure self-defense for the street to the Republic of Panama as he did. He is the Father of the HapKiDo in Panama as well as being the founder of the Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo.

Why Kwan in the name? Well the name of this style of HapKiDo is Song Moo and there is the headquarters or parent company of this art and style but as the parent company grows it needs a regulatory entity that is the Song Moo Kwan to regulate the various schools of this style of HapKiDo and as we do not want to lose it, the International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation has been formed with which it is expanding and my person SabomNim Ramón Navarro 6th Dan Black Belt and it can be said the oldest and most active student of Grand Master Park, SongIL that I am expanding our art and have representatives in Mexico, Uruguay and Chile besides that I am looking for serious representatives, willing to work the curriculum of this HapKiDo system and not to get ranks but to work it.
