Brianne Lowe comes into her third year at Cameron University, where she has posted a 31-25 record in her first two seasons. Lowe’s Aggies began the 2009 season 11-3 and finished the year by winning 4-of-7. She also coached a trio of student-athletes to a second team all-conference honor. Smedley began her head coaching career with Berry College, where she had an 82-37 record in her three seasons at the helm, including a 29-7 conference record. Last season her squad set a Berry College record for wins in a single season after going 35-9. The 2007 squad also achieved its first national ranking in school history. Smedley began coaching in 2003 after competing for four years for the Mississippi State University Bulldog volleyball team. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, and stayed in Starkville, Miss., to attain her Master of Science degree in 2002, also in exercise science.
lades. She was named the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Coach of the Year and the Region XIII Coach of the Year in 2005. She also coached the first Honorable Mention All-American and the first Third Team All-American in Berry College history. Also at Berry, Smedley coached a total of eight First Team All-Conference players, four Second Team All-Conference players, seven All-Region players, and one Conference Freshman of the Year. Prior to Berry College, Smedley served as Assistant Coach at both Centenary College of Louisiana, a Division I program, and Saint Leo University ( Florida), a Division II program. Smedley also has coached at a number of big name summer camps on the campuses of the University of Alabama, the University of Texas, the University of Florida, and the University of Tennessee, to name a few. In July she married women’s basketball assistant coach Steve Lowe and the couple resides in Lawton.
During her collegiate career as a right side hitter and middle blocker, Smedley was named the team MVP in both 1999 and 2000, and was named to the All-SEC Second team in 2000. She was also named the MVP of the Memphis and Air Force Invitational tournaments in 2000, and garnered All-Tournament honors at the MSU Invitational in both 1999 and 2000. Tory Brouwer comes to Cameron after a stellar four year career at Southwest Minnesota State, where she played on the right side. As a senior she saw action in 109 sets, had 285 kills, scored 313 points for the Mustangs and helped lead her team to the NCAA Tournament. As a junior her playing time increased and she saw action in 108 sets and smacked down 198 kills. During her junior season, Brouwer had a career-high 17 kills versus Minnesota State Moorhead and dug up a career-high 10 balls against ConcordiaSt. Paul. As a sophomore, the Maynard, Minn., native had a career-high six kills versus Upper Iowa and tallied two blocks and four digs on the season. Saw minimal playing time as a freshman, appearing in seven matches and had a career-high eight digs versus Minnesota State, Mankato (Sept. 19) In high school, Brouwer was a three-year letterwinner, two-time all-area selection, earned all-conference honors as a sophomore, junior and senior also earned all-conference honors in basketball and softball. She is the daughter of Ardell and Cathy Brouwer. She majored in exercise science with coaching minor. Brouwer will assist in film breakdown, daily practices and travel plans. 8
