Camera Technician Lifetime Achievement Award Bobby Mancuso I started my career at General Camera where I met my mentor Scott Fleischer and Sal Giarratano, one of my closest friends in the business.  My first job was Bright Lights, Big City with the great Gordon Willis. Not bad for a first job! My next job was Big. I started as a camera trainee, but thanks to Jay Levy, moved up to 2nd AC. I went on to do seven movies with Michael & Florian Ballhaus, including Goodfellas. Not only was it a privilege to work with such a talented DP, it gave me the opportunity to form a lifelong friendship with Florian. While working on Sleepers, I received a call from Don Thorin Sr, whom I had worked with previously as a 2nd AC. Don was doing a job in New York called The First Wives Club and offered me the job as the A camera 1st AC. Don was a man who always stayed true to his word and always stood behind his crew.  I went on to do two more movies with Don. He was a wonderful man, whom I will never forget. I have been very fortunate to work with many other great cinematographers including Allen Daviau, John Bailey, Emmanuel Lubezki, Andrew Lesnie, Vittorio Storaro, and currently Seamus McGarvey. I was lucky enough to see film as the dominant media and the birth of HD cameras. Technology is constantly changing and challenging us and I look forward to what the future brings.
