Integrated teacher development Each EVOLVE Special Edition Teacher's Edition includes an integrated teacher development program which allows teachers to increase their skills while their students learn. In each unit of EVOLVE Special Edition, teachers are introduced to different teaching techniques, guided to try them out in class, and given suggested readings to expand their knowledge of the theories behind each technique. There are four development themes integrated into each EVOLVE Special Edition level. • Teaching and developing writing skills • Teaching and developing speaking skills • Support in the classroom and learner management • Language acquisition Each theme is divided into manageable strategies, which are explored individually in separate units. The structure of the program in each unit is as follows: • Each strategy is introduced at the beginning of the unit, with a reading text or video suggested as an extra development resource. • There are two suggested activities based around practicing the strategy within the teacher’s notes for each unit. • A reflection box at the end of the unit offers questions to think about individually or to discuss with other colleagues.
