CAPTAIN'S CORNER

CAPTAIN'S CORNER

With spring around the corner, we have been busy preparing the course to define all the areas of play

I have also started to overseed the greens that were affected badly from disease going into winter, I hope to get a good take up from the seed and will overseed all the greens again, once the weather warms up.

During February we have managed to finish off the fairway vertidraining this will encourage the roots to grow on the fairways and give us better grass coverage in the future. Unfortunately the last couple of fairways we had to finish got rained on before we could tidy them up, and this caused excess mud We had two choices- either get them done now, or wait until we had better weather, which could have taken us into the growing season and meant we would be too busy to complete them

So for a few days we had some muddy fairways, which now I can say are recovering well and will have good coverage for the season

We have primed up the irrigation system ready for any hot weather that Mother Nature has to throw at us this year I have also been teaching our two new greenkeepers how to look after and repair the system so we can keep it running and keep the greens in good order

Me and the team are excited for the golf season and showcasing this fantastic course in its full glory this year

Sincerely,

Simon Head Greenkeeper
