DearMembers,
This month has seen the course start to flourish. The increased heat combined with the heavy incremental rain has put the green staff under more pressure to keep up with the rapid growth The greens continue to improve daily and the course looks beautiful with the new fairway definition
So far, May has seen a great turnout for official and fun competitions such as the Clemmow Cup flag competition and the Seniors blind pairs event. It was great to see the flag markers moving down the 18th - I couldn’t believe how far the players were able to get them around the course! The blind pairs competition really helps to bring the club together as you are paired with someone you may not normally play alongside. With that in mind we are planning a new members welcome game on the 16th of June. This relaxed game is a maximum of 9 holes and is followed by drinks in the Spikes Bar If you have recently joined and are interested in playing, please contact me on the email below June is set to be an exciting month at the club with the Captain’s Charity Event and Men’s Captains Day to name a few.

We’d like to take the opportunity to remind you about all of the services available to you with your very own on site Clinic here at the Club As the weather improves more of us will spend more time outside exercising or playing golf. The harder ground and increase in intensity of exercise can lead to a number of painful issues getting particularly bad over the summer months, one such issue being ankle / foot or heel pain – specifically Achilles tendinopathy or plantar fasciitis The plantar fascia (the connective tissue under the sole of our foot that attaches into the heel and acts as a “spring” to help our push off when walking) or Achilles tendon ( the thick tendon attaching our calf muscles into our heel) can become increasingly problematic, to the point of preventing people suffering with either condition to walk properly, if in some cases at all. While icing, calf stretches and foot mobility exercises are all important in the management of both of these conditions an excellent treatment option is Shockwave Therapy. This type of treatment provides a high energy pressure wave into the tissues which has an excellent regenerative and pain easing effect and can reduce and eliminate pain with just 3-6 sessions. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer this treatment here at the Club so if you suffer with foot or ankle pain please do get in touch and let us help you get walking and exercising pain free again!
Shockwave therapy is just one of the treatment options the Physiotherapists here at the Club use, we also offer acupuncture, therapeutic ultrasound along with joint mobilisations and soft tissue manual therapy as part of our physiotherapy treatments Other services include Sports Therapy - Emanuela is here offering sports massage, 1:1 rehabilitation / strengthening / mobility programmes, and menopause packages with Marika our Dietician who offers weigh management programmes as well as offering nutritional therapy for anyone wishing to lead a healthier lifestyle. We offer termly Pilates classes for beginners or those with health conditions or joint problems such as back pain or osteoarthritis. These classes are bookable through OneBody as they are not on the Halo system We are also running a private Pain Clinic with Jacinta, a Specialist Pain Management Nurse to help those living with chronic pain reduce their day to day pain levels and improve overall quality of life. We also hope to be able to offer private ultrasound scanning soon As part of this expansion into new services we would be pleased to get your feedback on what you would like to see as part of the healthcare services here at the Club, so please do follow this link to give some valuable feedback to help shape our service and communications with you the members.
If you have any questions or would like some advice as to how the OneBody Clinic can help you, then please do contact Liz Barker, Clinic Director, on 01223 953434 / 07725 693259 / onebody@cambridgecountryclub.com
In the meantime lets enjoy some sun at last and boost our vitamin D levels!
