A very big year of music was brought to a conclusion at our annual Twilight Concerto Concert in the Music School last night. Organised and led by Mr Ben Bishop, our Director of Music, and Ms Lisa Grosman, our Head of Strings, staff and students performed superbly at the Concert, featuring some of our Year 12 students for the last time. Thank you to all of our music teachers for the wonderful work that they do with our students who clearly enjoyed performing for an appreciative audience.

Tomorrow we farewell a group of 15 students from Years 10 to 12 who will be travelling to Borneo to take part in an inaugural community service-based journey, where they will help multiple projects aimed at improving living standards, health and economic development in local communities. They will spend three weeks trekking, working on projects and spending valuable time working with and learning from the people in the region. I am grateful to Mr Roger Devine and Mr Rick Mason for providing this opportunity for our students.
Year 8 Kangaroobie Camp All Year 8 students will spend next week at Kangaroobie near Port Campbell. The focus of the camp will be on the students’ transition from the Middle School to the Senior School, and current Form Room Teachers and Heads of House will be at the camp in order to assist with this transition. A number of next Year’s Senior Student Leaders will also be at the camp to help with the activities. All of these experiences encourage each boy to discover more about himself and his fellow classmates. I am once again grateful to the teachers who give up time with their families to be with the students, and particularly to Mr Rhys Thomas, who has coordinated the program. Paul Hicks, Headmaster

Roystead Awards Last Monday we presented the 2019 Roystead Awards. This award was designed to recognise students in Year 8 who are consistently respectful of others, give their best in all that they do, behave as good role models and display the ability to win with dignity and lose with grace. The award considers involvement as well as peer and student voting. Whilst it would have been nice to have given many more, we had to make a final list which included the following very worthy recipients:
