Stephanie Brown Trafton averaged 5.5 rebounds as a true freshman in 1998-99 before a knee injury cut the 6-foot-4 center’s career short prematurely in her sophomore season. Also a track and field star, however, she went on to win the Olympic gold medal in the discus competition in Beijing in the summer of 2008. In doing so, the former Mustang became the first American woman to win the gold in the event since the 1932 Games. On May 4, 2012, she also set an all-time American record with a throw of 222 feet, 3 inches.

Former Mustang Molly Schlemer, who followed Santiago and Clancy as a Big West Player of the Year, signed with the ChemCats Chemnitz of Germany in October 2014. The move came after an offseason that included an invitation to the ProHoops Combine in Nashville, Tenn., as well as a nine-game stint on the NetScouts USA AllStars Tour of China (at right). In September 2015, following her AllEuroBasket rookie season, Schlemer was picked up by Urla Belediyesi Gencli in Turkey, where she was the TKBL’s thirdleading scorer (at 21.7 points, while also averaging 13.1 rebounds) on the way to allleague second-team honors.
