Interviews are difficult for the first-time job seeker and especially during COVID-19. Practicing the interview process, along with clear feedback, really helps the candidate be more at ease and will help them find their ideal job. - Dr. Brad Van Patten Interviewing is stressful for candidates. My hope in participating in the mock interview process was to provide guidance and suggestions to potential candidates as they prepare for the interview process. Knowledge alleviates some of the stress involved in the experience of interviewing. - Michael Stone I am an educator and will always be an educator, no matter what capacity I serve. I believe that helping an up-and-coming educator to develop or prepare for an interview makes the journey easier for them and I feel compelled to support their development. I want to be involved to provide tips or suggestions and help potential teachers present themselves in the most positive way. - Dr. Marcheta Williams
Be yourself! It is important that you represent yourself authentically. Your interviewer is simply trying to assess what type of teacher and employee you will be. You should view the interview process as your opportunity to interview the prospective employer as well. What will you do to nurture that relationship if hired? Do you see yourself working for this organization? Communication and interpersonal skills are keys to success in any employer-employee relationship. - Michael Stone This is your opportunity to show your best self and how you, at your best, can enhance the organization. In order to do that, be sure to research the organization and the community the organization resides in so that you can determine if that is a good fit for you and how you can fit in and support them. - Dr. Marcheta Williams Practice, practice and practice. Just like a recital, the more you prepare, the better the performance will be. - Dr. Brad Van Patten
If you could give a tip to anyone interviewing, it would be……… Smile, be authentic and passionate, and always research the position, school, and school district prior to the interview. - Anne Fennell
