1. Our History

Calma House is a young textile decoration Spanish brand, founded In Barcelona In 2015 with the fusion of two generations; Carlos Manchon and Isabel Criado, founders of Textura (home textile brand with 90 shops) and their two daughters, Clara and Maria Manchon who are Textile Designers themselves.

This synergy created a great combination of experience and freshness to begin a brand with a different and innovative point of view in the market.

Calma House’s main goal is to have a different and affordable product you can find on home textile market.

Calma House has three different business lines. On one side, there are 8 physical shops in Catalunya and one more in Ibiza. On the other side, there is our online shop, and the third one is the wholesale exhibiting on national fairs as Intergift (Madrid) and Hostelco (Barcelona), and International ones as Maison&Objet in Paris and Ambiente in Frankfurt, all with the approach to retail, events and contract.

Calma House designs, produces and distributes exclusively all its products around the world, which makes the brand a unique experience.

The brand begun with cushions covers as its main product, and step by step is growing in different categories until being able to offer a huge variety decoration items for the complete home.

2. Products

Calma House has an extensive range of product categories. Besides our star, the cushion cover that we also offer in an infinity number of colors, textures, fabrics and measures, rugs, poufs, curtains, towels, duvet covers, headboards, linen table and other complements and accessories.

All of them designed by our creative team in Barcelona (Spain) and carefully produced in India one by one, taking care of all details to give each space the unique an exclusive Calma House touch.

2.1 Materials

COTTON

Cotton is a natural fiber extracted form the seed. It is pure cellulose.

Cotton fabrics are comfortable, soft, resistant and fresh. It is our favorite material for its quality and durability. 80% of our products are made in Cotton.

LINEN

Linen is natural, delicate and elegant. It grows in a natural way without fertilizers or pesticides and does not need too much irrigation during growth.

Another great aspect of linen is the whole exploitation of the plant and its 100% biodegradable use, not generating waste.

JUTE

Jute is called “golden fiber”. It is long, soft and brigth.

It is one of the most resistant natural fiber. It has high insulating and antistatic properties, and moderate moisture reabsorption.

Versatile, natural and biodegradable. 10% of our products are made in Jute.

80% of our products are made in Cotton.

10% of our products are made in Linen.

10% of our products are made in Jute.

2.2 Handmade

In Calma House we always work in new designs, colors, natural techniques and fibers. We dedicate time and care in each of our products, one by one. Using natural and manual processes in dyes and production, that’s what makes every article unique. We value our designs, that is why we make limited edition products and we are always innovating.

2.5 Fabrication tecniques

DOURRY

Is a technique made in a cotton base with a thicker thread, could be printed or dyed. The final product Is resistant and rigid.

DOURRY STONEWASH

Is a technique used to give the fabrics a vintage and softer look. The fabrics are tumble dry with small stones.

TUFTING

Tufting is a type of textile weaving in which a thread is inserted by hand on a primary base. It is an ancient technique for making warm garments

IKAT

Is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. Really ancient and hard to accomplish technique, because of the time and care artisans need to getting a nice results.

JACQUARD

A jacquard weave is created through a loom process, which is programmed to raise each warp thread independently of the other threads allowing to make an infinity of patterns.

BEE NEST

Decorative technique making a resemblance of a bee hive. Its gives the fabric a nice elasticity as Its main characteristic.

2.7 We care, you care

PACKAGING

We strength our effort to reduce plastic covers and replace it for eco friendly materials.

Most of our products are packed in cotton bags, perfect to re-use and keep the products well storage.

LABELING

All our labels are made in kraft recycled paper.

Also, we have replaced the plastic cords for a natural one.

IDENTITY

In all our physical stores we give our customers cloth bags for their purchases.

Each season we update the bags with different fabrics. We normally use materials such as jute and cotton.

Leading fair for Spain and Portugal with international visitors taking place twice a year. Calma House has being exhibiting on the fair for 4 years in the two editions per year.

HOSTELCO

Leading fair specialized in hotel and restaurant, taking place in Spain with international visitors once every two years.

6. Online shop

Born in 2015, our online shop was meant for our clients to discover all our products and place the orders for the B2B clients as well as the particular ones.

Constantly changing, is a nice platform where all our clients and followers can get Inspired with our products and Ideas to decorate their homes.
