Chamber Chamber of Commerce

The year 2019 was a busy one for the Callaway Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the year, the Chamber had a total of 79 events that were held – those including special events such as Annual Banquet, Golf Tournament, Town & Country, and Teacher Appreciation Breakfast as well as Business After Hours, Business Breakfast, Ribbon Cuttings, and member receptions.

In addition to the larger events, the Chamber hosted several workshops, trainings, and professional development classes to help strengthen the workforce in our community businesses.

At the Chamber, we love to celebrate milestones and achievements with our members. One way we can do that is through a ribbon cutting or groundbreaking celebration. Just last year, we had 21 ribbon cutting and groundbreaking events took place where our members, Chamber Ambassadors, and community could come and celebrate those special milestones in our County. Why Should I Have a Ribbon Cutting or Groundbreaking Celebration?

We want to cheer you on!

With the ceremony, we bring the ribbon or shovels, depending on celebration, and encourage our members, Chamber Board of Directors, and Chamber Ambassadors to come and help celebrate with you! Pictures of the event will be taken and shared to our social media pages so the community can see the great things you are doing as well! Members who are interested in signing up can do so by emailing Justis Smith at Groundbreaking Celebrations

This special event recaps our prior year’s activities and puts focus on the goals of the Chamber for the upcoming year. In addition, there is a program with accompanying awards ceremony where the following awards are presented: Chamber Leadership Award, Chamber Ambassador of the Year, Allen Connor Youth Award, J.H. Atkinson Award, Loyal Subject Award, Small Business of the Year Award, and Large Business of the Year Award.

Business Expo and Job Fair

At the Chamber, we want our businesses to exceed and make great strides in our County; and we know that workforce and clientele is an important aspect in that success. To help our members with that, we host a Business Expo/Job Fair in the Spring to kick off the new year! This is an opportunity for our members to showcase their businesses, products, services and employment opportunities to the community. The community and fellow businesses also have the opportunity to vote on the “Best Booth”. The booth with the most votes wins a special prize!

The tournament gives members the opportunity to spotlight their business in a relaxed setting in front of Callaway County decision makers. Plus, there are always great drinks and yummy food to enjoy throughout the day! Teacher Appreciation Breakfast

The purpose of the Callaway County Teachers Reception is to add to the excitement of the new school year and celebrate and show community support for our educators and teachers throughout the county. This event, which encompasses many aspects of community involvement, is to show our teachers and educators in the workplace that we support them in all they do for our leaders of the future! The Chamber encourages all schools within Callaway County to participate and have their teachers come for a great breakfast and motivational guest speaker – to start the new school year off amazing! Town & Country

This always popular event is designed to increase the awareness and interaction between two of Callaway County’s most prominent employment sectors – industry and agriculture. Alternating businesses from the city and county take turns serving as hosts of this annual event. The event includes a program from our host as well as an award presentation; including the presentation of the Legacy Farmer Award.

National Manufacturing Day

National Manufacturing Day is day to celebrate Callaway County’s manufacturers while educating students on the different manufacturers in the community and the different roles and positions within those companies. The event is comprised of a day-long retreat where students are able to go inside different Callaway County manufactures to get a better understanding of what manufacturing really is.

Show-Me Innovation PITCH Competition

Entrepreneurs play an important role in the community, and the Chamber wants to help set the foundation for them to succeed in our County. To do that, the Chamber hosts the Show-Me Innovation PITCH Competition. The competition, open to the public, allows individuals to “pitch” their business idea, whether it is for a new business or a business expansion. A panel of expert judges will listen to each pitch and determine a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
