Health Care Available At Your Fingertips After some questions in years past about the financial health and well-being of Callaway County’s only hospital, 2018 proved to be a turning point in its stability and outlook for the future. Combined with additions to the list of specialists available in Fulton, Holts Summit and Auxvasse and an ownership change in one of the region’s largest health care systems, the health of the Callaway County health care industry is looking better than it has in years. Fulton State Hospital Fulton State Hospital is the oldest State Psychiatric Hospital west of the Mississippi. The hospital is certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and has been accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) since 1984. Fulton State Hospital underwent a dramatic change recently that will impact the services the hospital provides. The new $211 Million state-of-the-art facility has revolutionized the services provided to the clients served. Fulton State Hospital consists of treatment units for high security patients (300 beds), individuals with developmental disabilities (24 beds), and the Sexual Offender Rehabilitation and Treatment Services (SORTS) program (125 beds). The Nixon Forensic Center, opens, Biggs Forensic Center closed and clients from there and Guhleman Forensic Center moved into the new facility. The hospital will continue to maintain the 22-bed minimum security Hearnes Forensic Center in a separate building on campus.

Fulton Medical Center operates as a 37-bed acute care facility in the heart of Callaway County. It currently offers 24 hour emergency room and laboratory services, CT, Ultrasound, DEXA Scans, X-rays, Physical Therapy, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Services.

The Hospital also houses a 19- bed short-term acute inpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Unit, Kingdom Senior Solutions. The unit provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for individuals ages 55 and older who are experiencing emotional, cognitive, or behavioral symptoms. In this unit we understand that caring for a loved one can be overwhelming and at times too much to manage alone; that’s why we partner with you to make the future brighter for you and your loved one.

In December 2019, Fulton Medical Center took on a new management group, Noble Health Corporation, Headquartered in Kansas City, MO. Noble Health is focused on immediately stabilizing and upgrading the hospital. Plans to introduce new services including Infusions, Dialysis, Surgery and Telemedicine are already underway for 2020.

The facility is also in the works of being rebranded, which will roll out sometime in March 2020. Noble Health’s vision is a world where rural residents have access to essential medical care in their community, for both short and long term care. We see the need to address local concerns first, and to meet community health needs no matter how complex. We believe that meeting the needs of families and seniors is vital to community health and that chronic care is equally as important as acute care.

Finally, we believe community hospitals should be as important to local government as any public infrastructure. Like bridges and roads, rural hospitals are essential to the economic well-being of rural communities and should be elevated to that level of support.

Open 7 days a week and offering primary care and urgent care services with one doctor and two nurse practitioners, SSM Health Medical Group’s Fulton Clinic is available to meet family care needs on short notice. Conveniently located just off US Highway 54 and State Road F at 350 Country Meadows Lane, the center is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. SSM Health Medical Group - Family Medicine, conveniently located in Auxvasse, Missouri, offers primary care for the entire family. Highly skilled physicians and nurse practitioners offer diagnoses and treatments for minor and chronic illnesses. From immunizations and well-checks to X-rays and minor emergencies, SSM Health has you covered. The clinic is a federally designated rural health clinic, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Two doctors in the Capital Region Physicians group maintain office hours in Holts Summit, offering Family Medicine services to the South Callaway County community. The offices are located at 180 Northstar in Holts Summit, and are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The affiliation with Capital Region provides patients with the care network of the University of Missouri Health System for specialists and services there. Callaway Physicians

The University of Missouri Callaway Physicians offers Family Medicine and Specialty Outreach Services in Fulton at 110 Hospital Drive. The Family Medicine Clinic offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Lab hours from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Outreach Services for Heart and Vascular are offered from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays, and Nephrology is available from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. Physical Therapy

University of Missouri Health Care’s Mizzou Therapy Services, located within the YMCA of Callaway County, offers outpatient physical therapy to people of all ages.

Sarah Moore, DPT, has a clinical background in complex diagnoses and injuries from both the hospital and outpatient settings. She is experienced in orthopedic and athletic conditions, as well as pelvic health and gastrointestinal dysfunction. Mizzou Therapy Services is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday at 1715 Wood Street in Fulton.
