NEWS ■ Street Life Moves to Bean Acres

Terry Lovingier has purchased a majority interest in Stay Thirsty, who will stand at Lovingier’s Lovacres Ranch in Warner Springs for 2018. Mike Repole has retained a 10% interest in the stallion, and Stay Thirsty will stand for $5,000. Formerly standing at Ashford Stud, from which Lovingier bought the interest, Stay Thirsty is already the sire of fve black-type winners, including multiple graded winner Coal Front and Peruvian multiple grade 1 winner Golden Leaf. His other black-type winners are Cosmo Charlie, Princess Karen, and Jocker Justice. While racing for Repole Stable, Stay Thirsty won fve of 17 races, with fve seconds and one third, for earnings of $1,936,000. Todd Pletcher trained him to victories in the 2011 Travers Stakes (G1), Jim Dandy Stakes (G2), Gotham Stakes (G3), and 2012 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1). Stay Thirsty also fnished second in the 2011 Belmont Stakes (G1) and twice placed in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1). John D. and John Darren Gunther bred Stay Thirsty, a 2008 son of Bernardini—Marozia, by Storm Bird. “Stay Thirsty brings a ton of pedigree and is a big alternative to a lot of stallions out here,” said Lovingier. “He provides one more opportunity for California breeders to get a good horse.”

■ Stay Thirsty to Lovacres

California stallion Street Life has been moved to Bob and Luanne Bean’s Bean Acres in Norco for the 2018 season. He is standing for $2,500. Winner of the 2012 Broad Brush and Curlin stakes, Street Life fnished third in that year’s Peter Pan Stakes (G2) and earned a total of $237,735. The 2009 son of Street Sense—Stone Hope, by Grindstone, entered stud in 2013. Street Sense won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1). Stone Hope is a half sister to $726,797-earner and graded winner Brilliant and also to the dam of group 2 stakes winner Spirit of Valor.

■ Misremembered to Barton Misremembered, a millionaire winner of the Santa Anita Handicap (G1), has moved to Barton Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez for the 2018 breeding season. He is standing for $2,500. A 2006 son of Candy Ride out of the stakes-winning Quack mare Beyond Perfection, Misremembered won the 2009 Indiana Derby (G2) and Swaps Stakes (G2). The following season he added the Santa Anita Handicap, and at 5 he captured the Santana Mile Stakes for total earnings of $1,306,709. Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert bred and trained Misremembered, who raced for Baffert’s wife, Jill, and George Jacobs. Misremembered’s winners include 2016 Turf Paradise Derby winner Nightly News and multiple graded stakes-placed Dazzling Gem.
