Lorraine Turner’s Workshops & Lectures
You may choose ONE project per 2-Day workshop. In this workshop students will each use the same photograph as a starting point. The focus is on technique, which can be applied to this specific piece, as well as all your future creations. The only limit is your own imagination. Once you have registered you will be given a PREP DOCUMENT and photograph to work with. Look for sample photos on my website or contact me. Travel Expenses: Round trip from Tampa, Florida. Mileage ($.535/mi or current federal rate), airfare, baggage fees, shipping, meals, lodging (2-3 nights when applicable). Kit Fee: $20 per student. Kit includes a pre-traced animal on 22 “x 19” white denim base cloth. Students will provide all other materials as indicated on the supply list.
There are several 2-Day Workshop projects to choose from. Each 2-Day workshop is for experienced students who have a working knowledge of raw appliqué, free-motion sewing, thread-painting, and can work independently. Students will be using their own sewing machine. Everyone will learn how to illustrate a fabric collage using fabric, thread, and custom-made texture. Students will also learn step-by-step techniques, such as: • Creating templates using photos • Raw-Appliqué, no fusing or glue •Thread painting
