“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supplying and installing your rubberized Unity Surfacing System on the rooftop of our building.Your double tile-mat-block with its double interlocking system impressed us most. Upon seeing the sample colors that were sent to our office and seeing your products installed at other buildings, we decided to go with Tan as seen in your brochure.” - Dave Platnick, Owner
PLAYGROUND AREA RALEIGH, NC
“Unity Surfacing Systems installed rubberized safety surfacing on our play area. Their crew worked diligently and completed the job within the time frame given. They left our play area immaculate and ready for the children. Since then Unity has been back to check on their work and was quite pleased with the results, as are we. Everyone at Unity Surfacing Systems was a pleasure to work with and I recommend them and their products highly.” - Adrien Hood, Principal

Our Safety Surfacing, Flooring and Paver Solutions Unity Creations, Ltd. and Unity Surfacing Systems products are designed, engineered and manufactured using the best and safety materials available through our sister company that recycles tires and rubber in-house. Unity has been in the manufacturing business here in the United States since 1987 developing and patenting a superior, resilient product, made from 100% recycled tires and rubber that is clean and safe to use in almost any environment. Our ingenious design and unique features give it an absolute advantage over competing products in the industry.
PLAYGROUND LONG ISLAND, NY
Walking, playing, running, standing, or just simply enjoying our unitary rubberized safety surfacing, flooring and paver products prevent leg fatigue in people of all ages. A fall onto a shock absorbing surfacing is less likely to cause serious injury as opposed to a fall onto a hard unsafe surface. Head impact injuries, from falls onto unsafe surfaces, is most life threatening. The severity of injury is decreased when using shock absorbing surfaces such as our unitary rubberized safety surfacing, flooring and pavers. However, it should be recognized that injuries due to falls cannot be prevented regardless of the surfacing materials used. Unity can only help absorb such injuries.
POOL AREA AREA POOL VALHALA, MO 4
Safety, quality, durability, performance and long term value are what Unity’s products are all about. The advantages to our system over the competing product are that we offer: low maintenance costs easy cleaning - consistent shock absorbency all year round with low life cycle costs and very good footing. There are no retaining edges needed, it does not displace during usage by anyone, thus requiring replacement, nor does it harbor harmful foreign objects (i.e. broken glass, leaves, debris, etc.) and it even provides noise reduction on rooftops as seen here: ROOFTOP PLAYGROUND CHICAGO, IL
“Thank you for the beautiful outdoor safety surfacing you installed on our playgound. If you would see the breathtaking emotions of both children and staff you would agree that a beautiful playground expands a child’s ability to value his own capabilities and celebrate others as well.” - Carol Hubner, The Gan Center For Children. INDOOR ROCK WALL UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
SUSTAINABLE GREEN GREEN ROOF ROOF SUSTAINABLE QUEENS, NEW NEW YORK YORK QUEENS,
Space is the most valuable asset in most major cities. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for our products to be installed on rooftops and indoors. We are the only manufacturer to pass two types of class “A” fire tests to include a modified version for roof coverings. This makes our products superior for such installations, thus providing thermal and mechanical protection as well. If required, the fire rating is available prior to ordering. 5
Technical Information ➤
MATS TILES BLOCKS
MATS TILES BLOCKS
MATS TILES BLOCKS
13⁄4” MATS TILES BLOCKS
1” Thick (Tough-Land Series) Flat Bottom, No Interlocks
What sets our products at a level that others can only dream about is our authentic, quadruple, interlocking design that is built directly into our products, thus eliminating the need for fasteners, pins, clips, etc. This patented tongue and groove technology is designed to snap and hook into place providing the strongest locking mechanism along various parts of the product prohibiting our products from separating, curling or peeling as found in a standard tile/mat/block.
A feature that no one else in the industry has or offers, and is exclusive to Unity Creations and Unity Surfacing Systems via its patents, is the BOLT-DOWN capability that is found within the male portion of our interlocking systems which is counter-sunk for added strength and security, even under the most extreme environmental conditions and usage. Twelve bolts are used across various portions of the product to ensure that vandalism will not be tolerated by Unity and its products.
These twelve staggered interlocking joints provide faster and easier drainage, allowing no foreign objects to harbor between the interlocks that is commonly found in competing products on the market today. Unity’s staggered interlocks also helps prevent our products from shifting on one another, which is essential in active, “common” areas. The twelve locking joints eliminate future problems such as expansion and contraction which may encourage vandalism. This patented system locks tightly together for many years of hassle-free enjoyment.
1” THICK INTERLOCKS
ROUND COUNTER SUNK BOLT-DOWN AREA
2-3/4” WIDE MALE INTERLOCKS
➤ Surface area is 6.72 Sq. Ft. per unit 3
Available from 1 ⁄4” - 3 ⁄4” (inches) thick (“Pave-Land”, “Play-Land” & “Soft-Land” series)
The interlocks are staggered at about 23/4” (inches) on center to allow owners of our product to cut the tabs when needed, thus removing a damaged product, repairing a substrate (roof), or relocating a surfacing (flooring) area if necessary. This versatility is unmatched and decreases the repair expenses to the consumer. As you can see, Unity also features a double tile/mat/block having a fake seam down the middle. This feature, that is only found here, allows us to have a monolithic “step & repeat” pattern which lines real seams up with fake seams as if you were installing “brickwork”. This technological advancement acts as a backup to prevent curling and wind up-lift. Fake seams force real seams to stay in place.

2” APART ON CENTER
Surface area is 6.72 Sq. Ft. per unit
Available from 13⁄4” - 33⁄4” (inches) thick (“Pave-Land”, “Play-Land” & “Soft-Land” series)
Our double tile/mat/block feature allows installers to install twice the square footage in a shift than the conventional square tiles. A savings that is unmatched in the industry. With this view from the bottom, you can see that our cones, (feet and/or legs) act as both a shock absorber from falls onto the surfacing below, but also allows water to flow freely to the drainage outlet when installed on a rooftop or a solid sub-base material such as concrete (cement) or asphalt (blacktop). Our system also eliminates any “hard spots” in our products as well, a common design problem with other products. 7
Handicapped Accessibility A playground or any surfacing and flooring area that has uncontrolled access may require a unitary surface (i.e. rubber tiles/mats/blocks and/or pavers) to ensure the highest standard of safety while reducing high maintenance costs commonly associated with loose filled products.
PLAYGROUND SAN JUAN, PR
More and more agencies are becoming aware of the fact that all public facilities must be handicapped accessible. With the 1991 passage of the “Americans with Disabilities Act” (ADA), many areas are being planned or modified to give people with disabilities an opportunity to participate in more everyday activities. Regardless of who you are, it is not easy to have the mobility to maneuver strollers, crutches, wheel chairs, canes, walkers, etc. through loose filled materials. Once again, all of Unity’s products meet or exceed these standards for: AccessibilityRotational Penetrometer.
ADA Transitional Ramps (finished edges) 1/4” THICK
VARIOUS THICKNESSES NO INTERLOCKS
When a wall, fence, curb, parapet or other bordering systems are not available, the transitional ramps that Unity offers is a great solution to complement an area that is installed over concrete (cement), asphalt (blacktop) or any other solid sub-base material to give it a complete “finished” look. It will provide easy access to the area and comes in a wide variety of colors and thicknesses to fit your needs. 8
Our products place in the intermediate category regarding installation difficulty. Contractors do most of the installations. An installation manual/guide is available upon request. Adhesive must be applied to a solid base and/or to the interlocks of our products. Keep in mind, bolts may be applied to the interlocks and countersunk as well. Tools that are common for most installations include: a utility knife or jig saw for cutting, a straight edge to make your cuts accurately, a string line and tape measure. A trowel or caulking gun may be needed for gluing purposes, as well as a drill for bolt-down applications.
Sub-Surfacing/ Base Options Since the life expectancy of our products is about 20 years or more (if properly maintained), we suggest installing concrete (cement) or asphalt (blacktop) down on level ground. Other types of surfacing options include crushed stone, quarry, wood decking, roofing and/or any standard indoor/outdoor flooring that does not have stress cracks.
Standard Color Choices (Pigmented & EPDM) All of Unity’s interlocking, unitary rubberized safety surfacing, flooring and paver products are made with tire buffings and crumb rubber granules recycled in-house and mixed with a clear urethane. Colorized products are made with pigmented dyes combined with black rubber. These pigments are dispersed throughout the top. Colors available include: Black, Splash, Steel Gray, Red, Green, Tan, Blue, White, Teal, Brown, Purple & EPDM. Steel Gray
The Splash design and EPDM top tiles can be manufactured with a wide variety of percentages of each and every EPDM granules, as seen here, so anyone can have unlimited design potential that would compliment any area. EPDM color choices are as follows:

As you can see in this picture of a recreational area, our products can be cut to conform to the most difficult of shapes and patterns, thus giving the area a nice clean finished look for all to enjoy.
RECREATIONAL AREA SAN FRANCISCO, CA
“Thank you for helping us create a safe and durable recreational area for our 160 preschool children. We now have a sensible and beautiful area that will provide great fun for kids. The gentlemen who came to upgrade our existing playground and installed the new surfacing were friendly and professional and as anyone can see, they did an uncommon job, especially with the design. Please thank your company for us, because they took an interest in making sure that our recreational area would be able to withstand daily use by so many children. It is nice to know people who know how to help people and get the job done.” - Mrs. Charles, Director
