BY THE NUMBERS CALIFORNIA CASA

THE NEED THERE ARE MORE ABUSED, NEGLECTED CHILDREN IN CALIFORNIA FOSTER CARE THAN ANY STATE IN THE NATION. They range from newborns to young adults up to age 21, nearly equally divided by boys and girls, and almost all of them removed from their biological families because of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. They can be found in large and small cities, towns, and communities up and down the state, and are united by their need for a safe, permanent place to live and at least one trusted adult to help them through the trauma of the foster care system.
