Quality Of A Plasma Cutter

The use of a plasma cutter in the welding industry ensures precise output, however, the quality of cut can vary depending on the properties of the metal and how the welder uses it during the process. Therefore, the accuracy of the plasma cutting technology depends on mechanical factors like features of the plasma tools, how it is set up, and also the expertise of the welder. Due to the easy mechanism, an operator can easily access the functions of the plasma cutting tools for the efficient and accurate fabrication of the metal.

Determine The Kerf Width of Plasma Cutters The Kerf is the material that is removed from the metal by the cutting process of the plasma cutter. In trhe plasma cutting process, Kerf width is primarily evaluated by the ampeage of the plasma cut process. The basic thumb rule is, lower amperage of the plasma will produce a narrow kerf whereas, higher amperage will produce a wider kerf. To obtain the best cut quality in terms of Kerf width, make sure the plasma cutter operates on lower amperage to cut any thickness of the metal.

Bevel Determine The Cut Quality Of Plasma Cutting Tool Bevel is a top to bottom variation of the cut produce by the plasma tool. Whereas, positive bevel highlight that the bottom edge of the cut on the metal is protruding, negative bevel, on the other hand, determines that the top edge of the cut is protruding. In the plasma cutting process, the major reason behind the unintended proportion of the bevel is inaccurate cut height. When the height of the cut is too high, a positive bevel will appear whereas, on low cut height, a negative bevel will appear.

Quality Cut for Creating a Round Edge Edge rounding in welding is the slight curve that occurs at the edge of a cut part. It is somewhere similar to a bevel and takes a round-finish shape instead of a sharp shape. However, top edge rounding in metals, usually occurs when plasma cutters creates higher cut height. In plasma cutting, top edge rounding of metals are normal and it can become excessive due to factors like improper cut height, inaccurate gas pressure, and worn consumables.
