CHELSEA WELCOMES...

Please do read about it on the next page, and do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Welcome Life is regaining a new, careful normality – but as the fear surrounding a pandemic begins to recede slightly, it seems that is to be replaced with environmental issues equally as substantial, as highlighted by the recent COP26 summit. We all have a part to play and to this end, I wanted to share with you our new sustainability strategy, ‘Chelsea 2030’, which sets out clear targets for Cadogan as a business to achieve maximum impact. Although work on the Chelsea 2030 strategy began over two years ago now with an extensive community consultation, I feel it could not be launching at a more important time to ensure that we are contributing to

As we look forward to a ‘more normal’ 2022, there is certainly much to celebrate both this year and next. We have exciting news to share from across the neighbourhood in this issue – from flagship shop openings to brilliant food and drink, public art competitions and ‘rewilding’ projects. So here’s to 2022 being all that we are hoping for – inspiring places and spaces to spend time with friends and family, a greener and more sustainable future to work towards together.

Chelsea has welcomed a spate of fantastic new openings over the last few months, from hotels and pubs to inspiring shops. We look at some of the most exciting and what the experts are saying about them… The Cadogan Arms, King’s Road: this neighbourhood favourite is back and better than ever – as a recent Evening Standard review said ‘Timeless magic lies behind these doors’.

The Surprise also reopened on Christchurch Terrace - another much loved local revived by a brilliant team. Over on Sloane Street, we welcomed The Beaverbrook Town House - the first outpost of this Surrey stalwart - the restaurant, bar and bedrooms only opened in September and have already been inundated by glowing reviews and industry accolades. The Sloane Street Deli is also thankfully under new management, with a culinary team led by former Le Manoir chef Dave Watts. Delicious, fast yet healthy eating has never been easier with the imminent opening of Leon on King’s Road and upcoming arrival of Ottolenghi on Pavilion Road early in the new year. As thoughts turn to Christmas shopping, you may be interested in the many new shop openings this year – from the innovative Anya Village on Pont Street (soon to welcome a Christmas grotto), to flagships for the World of Ralph Lauren, Ganni, Burberry, Balenciaga and inspiring space for Soho Home in the Duke of York Square’s converted 19th century chapel.

The K+C Christmas Collective

As we approach the festive season, a combination of factors including the end of furlough, the cut in Universal Credit and rising fuel prices mean that many people in our community are struggling to get by. Last year, the Kensington + Chelsea Foundation partnered with a group of frontline charities to support 8,365 residents who were in financial hardship or facing a lonely and isolated Christmas. They delivered a delicious Christmas meal along with some small gifts to let them know they weren’t forgotten, and the response was overwhelming. “Thank you so much for all you have done, it was such a heartwarming hamper to receive, truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.” This year, they want to bring that same good cheer to our community and need your support. The K+C Foundation need to raise £120,000 to reach the families, the elderly and the vulnerable single residents who need our help. • £20 could fund a Christmas box for an elderly or vulnerable single resident • £40 could fund a Christmas box for a family in hardship Please donate as much as you can to help us ensure none of our residents are forgotten this Christmas.* https:// thekandcfoundation.enthuse. com/cf/k-c-christmas-collective *any funds raised above the target will be used to support isolated and vulnerable residents in Kensington + Chelsea

Cadogan has launched Chelsea 2030, our ambitious environmental and social targets towards a more sustainable city. Central to the strategy is reaching net zero by 2030, in addition to 12 new targets supported by a multitude of initiatives that will reduce Cadogan’s own impact on the environment and that of its occupiers and suppliers, while also protecting Chelsea’s unique heritage and supporting its community. This follows extensive local consultation to understand the most pressing concerns facing local residents and businesses – and create a clear roadmap for Cadogan to help accelerate positive change, with a focus on tackling urgent global crises such as climate change and more local issues including air quality.

One recent project to increase greening and biodiversity across the Estate has been a ‘rewilding’ project with Louis Vuitton and SUGi, an organization dedicated to restoring native forests in urban spaces. Read more about the project here.
