BOUTIQUE HOTELS : A NEW TREND Design hotels are increasing in the world today. In all big cities you can be sure to find a hotel that calls themselves a design hotel or a boutique hotel. The reason for that might be more and more demanding guests. According to a preview research made by Marriot Corporation, one third of all travelers today are seeking something more than just a normal bed and an average hotel. The guests are seeking for an experience beyond the word “normal. We do no longer stay at a hotel for just the sleeping; we want to bring something home with us from the night at the hotel. “Something exciting is happening in the world of hotels. A new type of traveller is walking through the door. These modern individuals are explorers, culture-seekers, professionals and shoppers. They travel a lot both long and short haul. They are independent, share a respect for the places they visit and are young at heart.

MACRO ZONING + DESIGN APPROACH The new masterplan proposes the site to be divided in 3 integrated Macro Zones. The multi-level boutique zone that holds the spa, meeting rooms, rooftop pool, restaurants which will be located at the entrance of the site. The Garden & lake zone, is proposed to be between the two other zone to maximize the view possibilities and full integrate a central green area in the project. There will be outdoor spas, wedding themed gardens, boardwalk over the lake and the clubhouse which serves as the enterprise club as well as a multi-purpose gazebo. The Private Villas and gardens offers the possibilities to have hospitality at a more private level. Villas are sized at 40 sqm each and has a private garden facing it. COMPOSITION AND INTERGRATION The new boutique hotel and spa village aims to provide the clients a unique solution of various integrated spaces constructed within an existing landscape. Architecturally, the Phase II development will resemble a group of elements joined together as a whole. Each building complements the other. Green connections will be provided through each building. Landscape will always be the focus of the design - “bring the outdoors to the indoors.

MATERIALS

NATURAL LIGHT Natural light is a fundamental element of architecture. It is a powerful and poetic yet practical survey that provides an original and timeless approach to contemporary architecture.

It affects mood, health, and visual character of space in which we live or work. Architecture can, by all means, affect the amount of natural light a home or building receives. The variables of both position in relation to the landscape and the architectural features of the structure in question can greatly augment or inhibit the ability of the sun to illuminate its interior. How it does this is in part a function of its location, but it is also determined by its design and layout. The landscape in which a structure is located along with the materials used in its construction goes a long way in determining how much natural light is possible.
