Al igual que las series Sin título (Utopía) y Alguna parte, este trabajo reflexiona en torno a la guetoización espacial a la que se ha sometido a las minorías identitarias en un intento de restringir su socialización. Los limitados espacios donde mostrarse son paralelamente lugares de expresión libre y prisiones para las subjetividades. En el vídeo Utopía: ida y vuelta, una figura ambigua camina frente al mar abierto. La aparente ilusión de libertad que la envuelve se ve bruscamente interrumpida al aparecer una línea de cota en el espacio de la representación. La figura continúa avanzando hasta alcanzar la esquina pero, antes de conseguirlo, la aparición de otra línea de cota la detiene y la obliga a caminar hacia atrás. Tras recuperar la posición inicial, y como Sísifo, su recorrido se repite ininterrumpidamente. El sonido de fondo corresponde al romper de una única ola y ha sido manipulado para controlar su duración: exactamente el mismo tiempo que tarda la figura en moverse de un extremo al otro de la pantalla entre las dos acotaciones.
Like the series Untitled (Utopia) and Somewhere, this work reflects on the spatial ghettoisation to which minority identities have been subjected in an attempt to restrict their socialisation. The limited spaces where they can show themselves are at the same time places of free expression and prisons for subjectivities. In the video Utopia: There and Back an ambiguous figure walks facing the open sea. The apparent illusion of freedom that swathes this figure is abruptly interrupted when a dimension line appears in the space of representation. The figure continues moving forward until it reaches the corner, but before it can do so it is stopped by the appearance of another dimension line and obliged to walk backwards. Like Sisyphus, having returned to its initial position, its journey is repeated uninterruptedly. The background sound is of a single wave breaking and has been manipulated to control its duration: exactly the same time as the figure takes to move from one end of the screen to the other between the two boundaries.
