Beyond Update India Medical Trips Love in Action – How you can be involved! In April 2009, Dr Michael and Margaret Bishop led a team to India to do exactly this (love in action). The team went to remote villages and cities, setting up medical clinics and treating patients. They will be returning to India this month, with a team of C3 doctors and nurses who will continue the work already started and help connect these communities with our C3 Churches over there. The Bishops will leave with a team in mid Oct for another 2-week program of medical clinics and outreaches into the same area. They will also be attending the C3 South Asia Conference in India with others from C3OF. The last week of this trip will be spent by Michael doing more medical work for the poor, and Margaret arranging an EveryWoman India Conference in Solapur. The Bishops are also planning another medical visit in April 2010, as well as visiting a remote village in Nepal. Margaret will be taking a team of youth into India in Jan 2010, for creative art outreaches working with C3 Churches in India. They are looking for people who might be interested in joining them on one or more of these upcoming trips. Medical qualifications are preferred for the medical trips and creative youth preferred for the Jan 2010 outreach, but a servant heart and a willing attitude is what is really needed.

Uganda, March 2009 Trip

In March this year, Helen Maguire and an incredible Midwifery team raised $4,700 to buy gifts for the Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA’s) in the Kitgum and Pader regions of Uganda. 100 Birth Attendants received much needed equipment to aid them in helping pregnant mums give birth safely. Education on pregnancy and labour was also provided to the TBA’s. The provision of these gifts provided the TBA’s with basic medical tools to enable them to be more self-sufficient and effective in helping the community around them.

POST CONFERENCE REPORT... By all accounts, the Realmen Conference 09, was the best men’s conference yet. With over 1,100 men, the auditorium was filled with a tangible buzz on Friday night, as men from our 3 campuses, churches around the C3 movement and even wider, gathered together. It is a powerful thing to see a room full of men worshipping God, a moment when we as men find ourselves infused with strength and hope to continue to fight our battles with determination.

Ps Phil brought a message of hope and encouragement on Friday night, that inspired and set the platform for an amazing conference. The speakers on Saturday took us through a range of life issues that men face. Gordon Moore addressed fatherhood sharing personally about his relationship with his own father and son. Dean Sweetman tackled marriage, as well as the importance of not living life alone and being willing to acknowledge our weakness as men. Frazer Rowe spoke on relationships between biological/spiritual fathers and sons and the importance of generations working together. John Finkelde spoke on the significance of male friendship and Greg French finished with his prophetic insights into manhood and a powerful ministry time. Many testimonies and comments have been received from men, who found significant issues in their life being challenged and transformed as a result of attending the conference. Here are just a few:

I found myself surrounded by men who were also struggling in the same areas that I was, but also surrounded by men who had faced similar pressure and raised above it and come out on the other side cheering. I found positive role models, practical direction and sound teaching from the word which I could apply to my world. From the men’s conference I have committed myself to attending the men breakfasts and events, and also getting involved in the Realmen team as a volunteer. By being involved in Realmen, it has helped to get me into a position that I have wanted to be in, so that I can fix my eyes on other men and hopefully be more involved in providing solutions rather than being part of the problem. “ We would like to especially thank all the volunteers and REALMEN Team members who helped in so many unseen ways to make this conference a huge success. We are truly thankful to you guys!
