HD Export Tip: If source video is HD make sure editing sequences are HD (match original video) and the do the final export as a SD avi or mov (turn off ‘Frame Blend’ in sequence and make sure maximum quality is checked in sequence and export) Do not submit SD Video with progressive field order (it will be half the resolution of interlaced SD) DV Pal file size estimate: 5min = 1.1gb, 25min = 5.5gb 1hr = 11gb

Video Files Submission Information (USB Memory Stick only) Submitting Shows submitted as files MUST BE saved as individual segment files and trimmed ready for broadcast. Only one episode is to submitted on each memory stick Episode segment break-downs: Half-hour – 3 segments = total 25 minutes | One hour – 5 segments = total 50 minutes Shows submitted as files on Memory Sticks DO NOT need colour bars & tone, black, slates or universal counting leader – this info needs to be included in the slate text file accompanying the files. Final video submission format MUST BE: Codec: DV PAL Widescreen Container: Mov (quicktime) or Avi only (no Mpeg) Size: 720x576 16x9 interlaced. - NO HD or Progessive
External Labelling Memory Sticks must be accompanied with a tag or note with the following details: Show title Air Date
Electronic Labelling All Memory Sticks must feature a slate saved as a Text Document containing the following information: Show Title Season & Episode Number Total duration (excl. breaks/countdowns etc.) Individual segment durations TX date Contact details of Producer/Editor Video Field Order (upper or lower) If a file is handed in as a resubmission, ensure it is clearly labeled on the file. Episode files on Memory Sticks must be labelled in the following format: Segment number Show Title Series and Episode number Episode Title (if available) Air Date Field Order

Mini DV Tapes External Labelling Ensure all DV tapes are submitted with the following information clearly written on it: Show Title Season & Episode Number Total duration (excl. breaks/countdowns etc.) Individual segment durations TX date Contact details of Producer/Editor If a Tape is handed in as a resubmission, ensure it is clearly marked.
Submitting DO NOT put multiple episodes on the one tape (1 tape per episode). Each DV tape should be submitted with its own individual case. All DV tapes must start with: 1 min Black 1 min colour bars and tone (tone at -12db) Slate screen (with program info: title, episode, TX date, segment number) 10 second countdown Between each segment should be: 30 seconds black Slate screen (with program info: title, episode, TX date, segment number) 10 second countdown After your program content has concluded, ensure there are several minutes of black afterwards. Episode segment break-downs: Half-hour – 3 segments = Total 25 minutes | One hour – 5 segments = Total 50 minutes
Technical Criteria - Audio
All audio must be STEREO normalized around -12db (no higher than -6db) Audio must be clear and not distorted or glitchy Audio tracks must be correctly in phase Audio tracks with buzz or hum throughout will not be accepted Audio recorded using an internal camera mic, or a camera mounted boom mic is NOT acceptable for broadcast, all audio must be clear and of high quality. Audio must be in sync with the vision Audio levels must be consistent (normalized at -12db throughout entire show)
Technical Criteria - Vision
All Video must be submitted as 16:9 (any archival 4:3 footage must be pillarboxed) Video should be generally of a consistent aspect ratio throughout show (not switching back and forth) Vision must have correct field dominance (video with incorrect field order will appear jittery) Video should be clear of ALL watermarks Vision must be correctly exposed, white balanced and focused (with a clean lens) All shots must be appropriately framed and unobstructed, as well as steady. All sourced vision must be of an appropriate quality (i.e. VHS or ‘you tube’ style footage is not acceptable) All video should be of a correct shutter speed All graphic elements should be within ‘title-safe’
