uentin DeAngelo Liggins.

“Beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew and friend, Quentin DeAngelo Liggins lived his 33 years of life rooted in Godly faith, love, and community. In his own words he shared, ‘I thoroughly enjoy finding common connections and introducing people to one another in hopes that both of their lives will improve based upon the new relationship.’ It was this sense of connection and community by which Quentin lived and loved.”

This first passage of his obituary illuminates much about why we keep saying his name. In an effort to keep his name alive and the tenets of education for our young that he triumphed so magnificently, Alpha Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has rechristened its Black Wall Street Alpha Scholarship, “The Alpha Tau Lambda Quentin DeAngelo Liggins Memorial Scholarship.” As a true man of distinction, Q was the quintessential Alpha man who exemplified manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind. To this end we would like to offer you a chance to give this scholarship, named in his honor, a perpetual life. Whatever you choose to give will be utilized as a way to memorialize Q’s name and provide scholarships to outstanding graduating high school students who have chosen to Please join us by giving in these ways. You may send your tax deductible contribution: via Cash App @ $Burnsam448 or make checks payable to Alpha Tau Lambda, PO Box 6118, Tulsa, OK 74106. If you have questions or need further information, please contact Dr. Darnell Blackmon 918-830-0059 or via email at leomd@cox.net.

March 14, 2022 Dear Brothers of the Southwestern Region: Welcome to Tulsa, Oklahoma, location of the historic Greenwood District, and host of the 76th Annual Southwestern Regional Convention. The theme for the 76th Annual convention is: Creating a Lifetime of Wealth and Economic Empowerment. General President, Brother Dr. Willis L. Lonzer, III has urged all Alpha Men to be “Men of Distinction” and that is what we intend to do. It is my hope that following your attendance at the convention, you will be inspired to return to your communities and be a part of the solution. Throughout the weekend, we encourage brothers to be engaged with the business of the fraternity as well as take advantage of renewed relationships as we return to in-person meetings. Our activities begin prior to convention with our Virtual Building Black Wealth Series with our national partner, National Association of Real Estate Brokers. The opening program will revisit some of the wealth building notes and will include a panel discussion with featured stakeholders in the local community. Following with our convention theme, we will also commemorate one of the most prominent concentrations of African-American wealth by visiting the Greenwood District, popularly known as America’s “Black Wall Street”. The host chapter, Alpha Tau Lambda, is planning an informative and entertaining convention for you and your special guests. Brothers, this convention promises to be a well-planned and memorable event for all. We look forward to seeing you in Tulsa. Fraternally,

WILLIS L. LONZER, III, Ph.D. GENERAL PRESIDENT

Brothers, Welcome to the Annual Southwestern Regional Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 24 – 27, 2022. Together, we will witness the realization of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternal history as the 76th Annual Regional Convention assembles to conduct the business of the fraternity. Congratulations are due Regional Vice President, Brother Jeramaine Netherly, and Regional Assistant Vice President, Brother Ayowolemi Akinyamoju respectively, for ensuring that the planned festivities would indeed come to fruition. This year’s regional convention theme is “Creating a Lifetime of Wealth and Economic Empowerment.” Our presence in the beautiful city of Tulsa underscores yet again the expansion of the General Organization of our dear fraternity from our origin at Cornell University in 1906 in Ithaca, New York to the global extensions of our Brotherhood today. These facts hallmark the continuing relevance and significance of Alpha Phi Alpha's impact through our service as a fraternity. Since the General Convention is not convening this year, this regional convention will be a prime opportunity for the men of Alpha Phi Alpha to deepen our fraternal bond, strengthen friendships, and to build new ones. We will also gain new perspectives, remember our Brothers who have transitioned to the Omega Chapter, and rekindle our commitment to Alpha, leaving here with a renewed focus on our mission as a fraternity. It is my sincerest hope that this regional convention will allow you the opportunity to reflect on how you are Elevating the Alpha Spirit. As a Brotherhood, we are continuously working to align fraternity-wide programming, initiatives, and synergies with those on the regional level and so on. As the region moves forward, let us be reminded to continue to press on together, One Alpha, in service by always embracing our fraternity’s motto: First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All! Brothers of the Southwestern Region, I hope this letter finds you mentally and physically well. It is my pleasure to offer you greetings at the 76th Annual Southwestern Regional Convention, “Creating a Lifetime of Wealth and Economic Empowerment” in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 24 – 27, 2022. As your Interim Executive Director, it is truly my honor and privilege to serve you, our communities, and our Brotherhood. The great work that General President Dr. Willis L. Lonzer, III, and the General Office staff undertake daily is in service to what matters most of all, ensuring the legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and that work continues. General President Lonzer’s Elevating the Alpha Spirit vision means even more now than when he first presented it. Brothers, we have worked diligently to strengthen our Brotherhood, improve operational excellence, and encouraged our Brotherhood to answer the call of servant leadership. Yet, we still have further to go. We cannot be complacent with the progress made. Our purpose is higher. Brothers, we must continue to elevate, not just for ourselves, but for our communities, our families, and our beloved Brotherhood. As a membership driven organization, the Brotherhood’s overall development is at the heart of our success. Over the past year, the General Staff and I have focused our attention on creating more efficient ways to serve your region and all Alpha Brothers. We continue to increase our partnerships and sponsors, expand our internal and external communication strategies and efforts, and, most of all, excel in serving your needs. My Brothers of the Southwestern Region, your committed efforts have also not gone unnoticed. Please continue to serve your community and your Fraternity, as we continue to serve you. I hope this Southwestern Regional Convention offers a tremendous opportunity for fellowship, productivity, and fraternal empowerment, as well as ensures fond memories for years to come. Greetings Good Brothers: In times like these, words can seem frail when expressing joy, excitement and expectation. Yet, it is truly my honor and an absolute joy to be a part of the Tulsa Black Wall Street Alphas, Alpha Tau Lambda chapter, which welcomes you back to the House of Alpha in our home called Tulsa. in the great state of Oklahoma, a quiet pinnacle of the Southwestern Region. We are excited to open the doors of hospitality and brotherhood to welcome you. Let me say thank you to Brandon Jackson, our local chapter Convention Chairman and our cadre of Brothers, for their diligent work alongside the regional team to make this meeting a success. Our regional leadership, led by Southwestern Regional Vice President Bro. Jeramaine O. Netherly and SWR Assistant Vice President Bro. Ayowolemi "Wole" Akinyamoju have proven once again the steadfast determination to ensure Alpha men of distinction make steps forward in this fraternal life. Over the past couple of years, we have been particularly reminded that God controls the wheels and that we must show faith in moving onward despite obstacles in health, social justice and yes, even wealth. Creating a Lifetime of Wealth and Economic Empowerment is more than a theme. I am excited to see how this convention rekindles what we know. It is an opportunity to learn what people knew growing up along the Black Wall Street, that together we can build generational wealth. So, Brothers, let’s do what we always do, make time to learn something new, how to be better men, better leaders and mentors to young men and women in our communities. And don’t miss the opportunity to experience the historic aspects of Tulsa. It’s a great city that often people find they want to come back to again and again. I hope that is your expectation. It is certainly mine. Welcome to Tulsa,

HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES State of Oklahoma REGINA GOODWIN March 22, 2022

State Representative District 73

Welcome to the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 76th Annual Southwestern Regional Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are honored that you chose the city of Tulsa to host your event. We are confident that you will find Tulsa to be a wonderful setting for this distinguished meeting. Many native Tulsans have tremendous narratives. May you sense the entrepreneurial spirit of Simon Berry, owner of a charter plane company and pilot, and may you know the artistic soul of actress Alfre Woodard, Charlie Wilson, and the GAP Band. As the first intercollegiate historically African American fraternal organization founded, we urge you to learn more of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, kept in sacred memory and to visit the historic grounds of Black Wall Street, where we cherish the history it holds. I hope you continue your service in the footsteps of Dr. John Hope Franklin, an Oklahoma native and Alpha Phi Alpha member, who said "knowing one's history leads one to act in a more enlightened fashion. I can not imagine how knowing one's history would not urge one to be an activist." Alpha Phi Alpha has no lack of exemplary leaders throughout the history of the organization, including the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As you conduct the convention this week. I trust you will equip yourselves to better shepherd the next generation through community as "servants for all". Best wishes for a productive meeting and continued success within your organization and throughout the communities you influence and support. I hope your time here is impactful and you will be compelled to visit again. Sincerely,

Representative Regina Goodwin

Also visit Downtown Tulsa with entertainment at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center and BOK Center and attractions including the Woody Guthrie Center, the newly opened Greenwood Rising Museum, and numerous nightspots and dining options. Tulsa also has a distinctive stretch of historic Route 66, featuring one-of-a-kind businesses, neon signs and landmark attractions, including the east and west gateways, the restored 1934 Meadow Gold neon sign, and two larger-than-life artworks: Route 66 Rising and the 20,000pound bronze, East Meets West. Take the bridge across the Arkansas River to see the Avery Plaza Southwest neon sign park and the Route 66 Historic Village a little farther west at 3770 Southwest Boulevard. Tulsa’s location on the banks of the Arkansas River provides recreational opportunities including walking and bicycling on trails in Tulsa’s River Parks, and our nationally known park, Gathering Place, that opened in 2018 and was named USA Today’s Best New Attraction. Designed as a vibrant and inclusive space, this riverfront park blends nature with an urban setting. Explaining brotherhood can be a challenge in today’s world. I have to admit, I like wearing the colors and the letters. But we all know that being an Alpha is more than that. For me, among other things, it’s about being an example. It’s about helping people learn a better way of leading life, about using the gifts God has given you to make the world better. It’s about helping feed people or encouraging them to get a vaccination against a dastardly virus. Individually we may accomplish a certain level. But when we come together, it is always spontaneous combustion, and then we bring the ice. First of all, servants of all, we shall transcend all.

CELEBRATING A LIFE OF IMPACT

Bro. Quentin D. Liggins

Born: September 20, 1988 Initiated: Alpha Tau Lambda, November 16, 2019 Omega: March 2, 2022 Bro. Liggins was initiated on November 16, 2019 by way of the Alpha Tau Lambda Chapter in Tulsa, OK. He was instrumental in helping the Oklahoma District, during the pandemic, with our 2020 virtual convention as the Oklahoma District convention chairman. He served Alpha Tau Lambda as Secretary and 2nd Vice President, as well as website designer. He was described by Alpha Tau Lambda president, Bro. Russell LaCour, as a Brother's Brother. A brother who always wanted the best for the chapter and the fraternity. He was a great mediator for the chapter. His passion to serve was unmatched, as he was willing to serve however and whenever. In December 2021, the chapter awarded him the most distinguished award: Brother of the Year. Following Brother Quentin's passing, the brothers of Alpha Tau Lambda renamed their scholarship to Alpha Tau Lambda's Quentin DeAngelo Liggins Memorial Scholarship. Please contact a brother of Alpha Tau Lambda to give towards this fund in Quentin's honor.
